Red face Free US calling backopen again with RingBranch

Just to let people know that RingBranch.com has opened up its limited beta testing program again (this morning 23th July) and might be of use to some. (I know I have been waiting 2 months for sign ups to open)

So what's so good about RingBranch ? well RingBranch will allow you to access Gizmo5's Backdoor feature and allow you to call any number in the US for free.

Still dont have a clue what I am talking about here is an explanation of Backdoor Dialing:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

"Approximately 11% of US telephones, including mobile numbers and land lines from carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc., are connected via VoIP. Working with telecom partners we are now making it possible to dial these numbers without going through the traditional phone system.

This means you can call certain mobile and land line numbers from any computer connected to the net and talk for free. Because these calls are bypassing the traditional phone network entirely there is no per minute fee or other charge for the caller regardless of where they call from."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

While the Backdoor dialing offered from Gizmo5 is free, there is a limitation in that approximately only 11% of US phone numbers are eligible to receive a free Backdoor call from Gizmo. In fact, from Gizmo5's website, you can test and see if the number you are trying to call is "Backdoor dialing eligible."

RingBranch can help turn a non-eligible number into a "Backdoor dialing eligible" phone number

See the following blog item on how to set this up as most people will have fallen asleep by now any way.

Now this was all over the VOIP sites about 3 months back but then RingBranch had some issues on how is it going to make any money and closd down new sign ups.

They have now done away with giving everyone a free DDI number and now use shared indial numbers. So all is not lost you can still set this all up. I started testing the 80 indial numbers and on about the 15th number I found one that you could use.

And for people who dont have time to read the full post this method will allow you to setup a SIP device and allow you to call any number in the US for free (I am sure porn numbers and such are blocked)
