Hey guys, has anyone successfully hacked their Wii? I've done plenty of reading about it but have yet to actually do it. I would like to hear what you all have done and how you did it.

Also, vote in the poll on the best backup method for the games: burning backup DVD's, using a HDD, or using SD cards.

Also, once you vote, leave a comment saying how many games you have backed up and what you use to back them up.

Lets see who has the largest game library! (not that you will win anything, just bragging rights)

Looking forward to seeing what you all have done with you Wii's!

umm that was easy as pie, just got zelda installed homebrew and it all went smooth from there... doesn't matter if ure using dvds, hdd or sd... hdd is the best one though, just because you can store your library on it and just play games from there... instead of having to write them all the time...

Cool. I've read that burnt dvd's dont spin as fast causing lag in the game. Is this true?

No. Never experienced it, at all. Atleast with the newest version of the backup Launcher Neogamma.

I managed to get homebrew on my Wii, so I've softmodded it.

@ haxorzspain - might be a dumb question, but do you need to be connected to a wi-fi connection to be able to play the wii games?

nope, and when you DO connect remember to turn the auto updater off, or else you could accidently update ure firmware which you certainly don't want do!

I must of done something wrong then, I've got the homebrew channel installed, but all it has on it is the "get apps" thingo, and when I click that it wants me to connect to a network or something..

So, I've got a burned Wii game, put it in and nothing happens - what am I meant to do at this point?

Cheers :)

Ehrmm.. I got a pre-modded Wii :grin1: Costed a few bucks more but at least it saved me the embarrassment of not knowing how to solder properly. Use Verbatim DVD+R disks to play my 'backups', never had a single problem, not even with new games.
