Any online poker players here

Yea a friend of mine told me I could make some extra money... like $500 - $1k/week... if I got good..

I joined 2 plus 2 .. and I also am saving to get on the forex and I was also told playing texas hold em can give you good fundamentals in becoming a trader...

Any advice... ?

Been playing poker for 5 years.... Not so much anymore.
Started online and then to live tournaments.I loved it..although the lack of time ws starting to interrupt.

Let me guess you got a system that can't lose

I personally think it's a waist of money.
If i'm doing something thats gonna cost me a hundred bucks, then my balls better be empty by the time i'm done.

of course theres alot of money to be made with online poker, some of the pro's make a few 100k's/day but they have the bankroll for that, the next day they could be down a few 100k's just as easy. theres a method here on BHW about using bots to play for you, maybe thats a better idea.

No... not really.. I mean from what I have been told...if you have great discipline and a good money management system...and dont enter games, that your bankroll cant handle the variance...in various out comes...you could make a little extra money...week to week..

Thats impossible, if every poker player would do that then where would the money come from?
Just like forex, poker is a marketing device thats giving an average joe like you and me the illusion that money is at your finger tips.
Thats the power. There is no long term fundamental stability what so ever.
Only short term riches for the happy few.
Just look at the math. Say you are at a table with five people.
You have a 20% chance of winning. So in five games you'll probably win ones.
That means you lose 4 and win 1.
Chances are you lost more in the 4 you lost then you gain in the one you won.

You are completely wrong here. Online poker is NOT about luck. I have 2-3 friends who are averaging 1k/ week. It takes ALOT of time, way more than IM, but if you are good and you keep stats on every players you play against (using software such as Poker Tracker or Holdem Manager), it can profitable.

Well, there a good and bad players. Bad player are called "Fish". These people play poker for fun and they trully sucks.

Good players (Sharks) steals Bad players's (Fish) money.

I play some online poker, it's pretty fun. Easy to lose, but when you win it can pay out well. It's much better than the lottery.

You definately CAN win though...It's not like forex at all. That's a terribly wrong comparison. Joker pretty much hit the nail on the head...Sharks vs. Fish.

Crooker, your are very wrong.

It's like Jokerz said, you gain money from the fishe's. They play for fun, and you take theire money.

When you sit on a 9 people table, the first thing you do is to find the fish. If after 10 hand's you still didn't found the fish, it is probably you.

Pokers like any sports, shooting ,running, long jump. Put in the time and hard work to become good. In every game theres little luck included

poker it's a game of losing , there it's no '' winnings'' it's only about losing ... and usually most of the time peoples who believe they can '' win '' usually lose.

So I take it... its going to be impossible to do IM and poker full time and at the same time........?
