If you need the money then yes.. who cares what kind of job it was. If there's any other alternative then no, don't go back.

Re: Fired from 9-5
Yeah I would say it depends on the job, the people there, the money etc.
Also its probably worth noting are they likely to do it again to you?

If you're making decent money online, then don't go back, go to unemployment and collect money until it runs out and invest your time and money online

This guy tells the truth. I would go for unemployment if you are making decent money from the interwebz, that way you can focus 100% of your time into your marketing or whatever it is you may do and increase your income, but if your in a needy situation and you're not making anything online then I'd go back, yes it will feel awkward, but it's a job and your getting money, who cares.

This happens worldwide every goddamn day. What helps? If you need the money and can accept for yourself that you are working for cold heart machines then I seee no problem. Be cold heart too.

I think so.
They seriously did not give you a reason? You sure it was not a lay off? I work at Best Buy (seasonal) right now and this kinda worries me.
I was fired from Target for ringing myself up for gum but they THOUGHT I rang myself up for $250 dollars. Trust me. I only rang up gum. Other people were doing it too and it seems like they only ganged up against me. I freakin did EVERYTHING there and had the best review and was awarded for it. We had people that were not washing their hands after leaving the bathroom and handling food. They're still there.
I called employee relations and all that. They said I might be offered my job back because of all the evidence I had and I decided against it. You are right. It would be too weird and to deal with that bitch manager who was so quick to accuse me of stealing $250 dollars...impossible.
I am pretty happy at Best Buy now but I am only seasonal so...I hope I have a job after the holidays.
Good luck!!

That would irk me a lot. They just fired you like that? You said there was no reason. You sure it was not a lay off?

Re: Fired from 9-5
How fucking retarded is that? They fire you, then immediately want you back. If you need the cash, go back. But, I'd keep looking then just quit one day with no advanced warning. Yeah, I'm a spiteful fuck.

It depends on if you're working in a right-to-work state. They can fire or let you go for any reason. Google right to work states.

Depends on what state you live in. I live in PA, and every job you take can fire you at anytime at any point for any or no reason (provided it isn't discriminatory and you can actually prove it if it were).
Every state has this capacity, but to what degree varies among states.

Re: Fired from 9-5
Same in Cali. That's why I just walked off my last job. Handed my manager my work laptops, badge, and simply said "Here you go. I quit". He said, "Just like that?". I said "Yep".
He was a douche bag, knew why I was quitting, and that's all that mattered. Yeah, I burned my bridge with him and that company, but I analyzed the situation beforehand and knew it wasn't much of a loss. Got another job quickly, so no problem. Funny thing is, 3 months later, they laid off that whole department with no notice.

No, the right-to-work act doesn't have anything to do with it. That act is about your right to join/not join unions (there is a lot more to it than that...but that is the basic gist of it).
What you're talking about is "At Will Employment" which is in regards to both the employer (can get rid of you at anytime) but also the employee (you can leave at anytime)

Re: Fired from 9-5
Like someone said it depends on you. If you need the money to maintain and you like the job then go back. Maybe the person who fired you might get fired after all the manager is pissed, lol.
P.S. Let me know how the offline marketing is going. I am working on that myself.

Re: Fired from 9-5
go back and steal loads of stationary, take a dump on the toilet floor, photocopy your balls (or pussy lips - gotta be politically correct here), send the scans to the global email list, turn up dunk and pinch or slap (either is good) the bottoms of various senior female (or male) staff, format any servers you have access too, rewire any voip switches at random, wipe excrement on the backup tapes, book an urgent appointment with the chief exec and show him your best disco moves until he calls security, set the fire alarm off, then streak in front of all your obedient colleagues in line for the fire safety role call... wow, i'd so love to do that
if you are looking for a good resignation letter here i the one is used which i found on the net
Quote:
Dear ______
After an appropriate period of deliberation, I have come to the decision to tender my resignation from (company name), effective (end date).
Please know that I still maintain a high level of respect for you as a manager and colleague, and I thank you sincerely for the support and assistance you have offered me in each of those roles. I have been proud to work for (company name) over the past (years worked); it has been a journey that has provided me with an unparalleled foundation to move forward to new and exciting opportunities.
As such, I have decided to become a professional pirate. It has always been a dream of mine to live the life of a swashbuckling corsair, beholden to none and master of all I survey. Once my crew of unabashed rogues is assembled, we shall take to the capacious expanse of the high seas to pursue fortune, fame, and hair-raising adventure.
Our path may not be filled with the porcine comforts and technological marvels that (company name) provides, but we shall nonetheless move forward to carve a name for ourselves in the annals of bold insurgency and death-defying derring-do. Once I have a keen blade at my hip and the Jolly Roger is flapping high above me, I believe I will find my true calling.
Please note that I am currently accepting applications for First Officer, if you are at all interested in applying. I will provide a full medical and dental plan, which will offer immediate coverage of all maladies other than scurvy and the occasional bout of rickets.
Sincerely,
|
when you resign you are in the clear, if you get fired it looks bad.. enjoy my alternative methods... i have done some of these with no regrets, i was surprised at the lvel of suport from my colleagues, the real people (not the phoney brown nosing mother fuckers cock sucking parasites)

Re: Fired from 9-5
i think that you should go to the job and at the same time,do the IM.Once you start making steady income, you can quit the job.But if you are already making a steady income out of IM,then why go to the job?continue doing the IM in that case.

I don't think unemployment runs out anymore. I got fired from my 9-5 for the same reason as you and started working in IM immediately while collecting unemployment. Just be sure to claim all of your Adsense and other earning. Now a year later I am making enough to live on!

Actually no he couldn't. In the US many states are no fault states where they can actually terminate you for no reason. Read everything you sign when you are hired. I didn't and they threw it in my face when i got canned
