Ok I know a lot of people here probably hate IE8, but I use it often.

Anyone here get errors like me?

For example, I can't create SMILEYS in the editor, nor can i invoke any drop-down menus.

It appears that IE doesn't like the code used for menu creation.

I have to log in to Mozilla whenever I want to check my PM's because the Menu doesn't function in IE.

Would be cool if they could fix that, so i wouldn't have to use 2 browsers when using Black Hat World.

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee :o

Maybe if you send a nice email to Bill he'll fix IE8 for you instead.

Get a real browser? ;)

Opera, Firefox and Safari are all superior and have many more features and benefits.

Back when i used to write compliant code, internet explorer was such a big fucking pain. The amount of CSS it used to fuck up is unreal, you'd end up writing separate style sheets just for IE6/7 and now 8 it seems. The worlds most used browser, is also the ropiest interpreter of code because of M$s own lazy coding! :)

IE8? Why not just stick with firefox if you have no issues there? What makes firefox lower in your hierarchy of browsers than ie

I know its not perfect.

  1. The only reason i use it is because it boots up 3 times as fast as firefox.
  2. i love the toolbar bookmarks
else i dont need it

im switching to google chrome soon though.

because that starts at a ridiculously incredddddible speed

coulndt believe the google guys beat the MS guys on browser start time.

I run IE8 for certain projects as well and do have all of the same issues you described. It was running BHW fine up until a month or so ago. Now I just run BHW with FF to compensate.

Firefox is the Internet Marketer's browser of choice. Lots of great free add-ons that you can't get in IE. I suggest that you stay wiith Firefox. Don't worry, you'll get used to it :)

Cheers!

If you need/want to use IE, why not just go back to IE7?

I had a ton of problems with IE 8 (not limited to blackhatworld.com). Out of frustration, I switched to FireFox and wondered why I hadn't done it sooner.

You can install FireFox without uninstalling IE. If you decide to go that route, check out the Ad Block Plus extension. It blocks all those pain in the ass banner ads -- you know, the ones we pay to have show up on other people's computers :)

I remember i used to use IE occasionally for speed in loading, but the extras i get with Firefox mean i'm happy to wait an extra few seconds. If i want speed i use Opera. If i want to feel like i'm giving information about what i'm doing, to a company who already knows too much about me, then i use Chrome. Which i never have for what it's worth!

Well i was big fan of IE until i discovered benefit's of Firefox ill open IE once a month for now

Funny thing for me is that I went looking for an alternative browser because IE took soo long to load the homepage on startup, way back when firefox was Phoenix, and LOVED the lightness and speed compared to IE6, but now it does load a little slower, but thats because of all the addons I have it loaded with, but there is NO way i'm going to give them up, even for the slight bump in startup speed.

@kaidoristm

Same here, I used to use IE only all the time. Until I tried Firefox with many useful plugins, I moved away from IE completely.

Firefox tends to be more stable anyways, from my experience.

IE is just a garbage program, way too much of a headache to even be worth fixing the errors.

ie8 is the bug man, get a real fucking browser!

I'm not going to come at you with any arrogance, but with an honest opinion.

Firefox has amazing add-ons, it's very fast (IE stays preloaded , that's why it "appears" to load faster), it's complaint with web standards, it's more secure, it's open source, etc, etc ..

If you're serious about usability and security, choose firefox
