Should I take legal action?
Hey guys. Today I parked my car outside my college campus. Another building is being constructed in there and the partking is really closeby. Today what happened was a small stone fell on my car's windshield and I got a really small crack (not even that, part of the glass just chipped off). I am just 19 so don't know much of legal stuff.
What Should I do?
Should I first talk to the chairman of my university?
Or do I take help from the police department?
OR
Ignore my windshield and break all his car windows???
I really need some input guys and legit inputs. I consider BHW my family so am asking.
Thanks in advance

Re: Should I take legal action?
You can:
1. Cry
2. Deal with it
If it was me, I would pay the measly amount to get my windshield fixed or replaced.
Legal action will cost you more than it is worth.
Shit happens sometimes, sucks, but thats just life.

What will the police do, especially if you are in India! They don't fuckin care abt the terrorist attacks. Would they care abt ur fucking car or its windshield?
Think abt it, take a second!

Re: Should I take legal action?
stop at the local carwash and hav ethem do a repair. theres tons of places that do free "non-cosmetic" repairs to windshields under your insurance. basically it stops it from spreading and doenst cost a dime. not much you can do as you cant prove it happened while parked

build a webpage against this company, burst it to number one in google and ruin their business…

I fully agree with Dragn though the only thing i would go careful about is the level of Insurance E.g In the Uk with have fully comp, third party F+T and third party only, you only get windscreen cover with fully comp, in rare cases do you actually get this with Third party cover.

Re: Should I take legal action?
this is not legal advice.
on balance, a tiny crack seems like whining.
that said, there are two possible arguments here.
for negligence to exist, there must be a breach of a duty of a care.
it seems to me that it is quite possible that the school (through its agents, the builders) breached a duty to control the stone. That failure caused damage to your car. However, you can find case law that says that you have a duty not to be stupid in these situations and parking very close to a construction site may be a problem for you (depends on your state's case law). Having said that, the amount of work you you'd have to do to litigate this verus the damages you suffered doesn't justify seem like a good ROI. Probably the best move is to write a letter to a higher up at your uni and say you are a broke student and you can't afford to fix your window.
Now had it hit you in the head, this would be a different story
That said, this is not legal advice.

Re: Should I take legal action?
my advice is hit yourself in the head with a stone and complain about that..

Re: Should I take legal action?
I would talk to the guys on the construction site first. They might not appreciate it if you you talk to a second or third party before letting them know what happened and might eventually stop cooperate. If you just explain them what happened you could probably work out a deal.

Re: Should I take legal action?
report it to your insurance company and let them handle it.
