    Default Legality Issue

If you are making a video to promote your website. Can you say another companies name on your video? Trying not to get sued before my site launches. For Example in this Vid the guy says Google myspace and a bunch of others..Is that legal?

As long as you're not defaming them or claiming to be them, I don't see this being problematic. BHW isn't really the best place for legal advice though.

Mentioning brands is fine. Especially since you're not making money directly from this video in the sense of "selling" the actual video. The issue would be if you showed the trade marked logos.

Furthermore, as along as you're not bad mouthing these sites in a derogatory and untrue way there's nothing that they can sue you for. However, even if you did bad mouth the sites, as long as it wasn't something like "G00gle endorses molesting little boys" (defamation/libel) you're fine.

For the most part, in relation to your site, companies can only sue you if:

    1) Their brand appears in your site URL (eg. facebookislame.com - this is still shady and the verdict is still out)

    2) Defamation and Libel

    3) You use their trademarks - unlicensed

    4) You manipulate their site in some way (eg Hacking/spamming/fishing)

I might be missing one or two other minor instances, but for the most part this is the big picture.

    Hope that helps

I also agree with him... I don't see a problem as long as your no flaming on them, but i would contact someone who is trusted in this field, this could be a huge problem if done wrong.

I just want to say something like. "Sure you could sell your stuff on ebay or craigslist but that is just one website and one page. Wouldn't you rather have hundreds of marketers selling your product on thousands of pages all over the internet selling your product in multiple countries""

I don't see anything wrong with that and doubt either eBay or Craigslist would care.
