For some reason, the number one search term being tracked by Google Trends this 11/11 afternoon (ranked as volcanic) was "why wont my parakeet eat my diarrhea?" This has led to a lot of talk about why. It appears a lot of strange items come up under Google Suggests, the feature that completes the phrase you start to type into the search engine. Anybody smell a BH monetization angle? As in creating a weirdly named site, then manipulating suggests into putting it into its index of recommended search terms, thereby manufacturing a volcanic trend? Michael Jackson and Velociraptors, for example?

That's interesting as there was a guy on here before with a parakeet blog - he should have created a post titled that and he's have been in the money!

sure it would work. but i see this trend dying down as quickly as it rose up. unless this was one of multiple trends that you could regularly capitalize on.

last year i would have given it a shot, but rt now it doesnt feel worthy of effort to me. if i were you id give it a shot, talk about low competition. its gonna be an easy handful of cash.

It's a bird. I see the potential for weird phrases in two ways, 1-monetizing the ones Google already has in its cue via its Suggests feature, and 2-creating new super odd keywords for blogs/sites, getting them indexed and seeing if G will then list the keyword in its Suggests feature. The keywords would need to start out ordinary ('how to...') to end bizarrely ('...properly lose sperm'). That would lead to many people discovering the phrase when doing a general search, then visiting the site from curiosity.

Sure, when two things humans love most come together it's over; shit and animals.

I heard a story very vaguely similar to this... somebody used "Elvis Mermaid" to get a shitload of Youtube views or something? My guess is that, like everyone here, people see a bizarre phrase and go "huh?" and get curious. I don't see how the #1 site would get any clicks though. (whywontmyparakeeteatmydiarrhea.com, anyone? You'd get random banners for Immonium AD, bird seed, and corprophilia.)
