Trachone, someone mentioned vonage (bad spelling anyway) seem to work in some states. Or you could setup a kind of phising page where you take their phone number, it gets submitted and they fill in the pin/verification code in order to get transfered to another site. I doubt there will be any workaround, if there is, CL can easily patch it most likely. Unless those people who posted "ive cracked it" then didn't post anymore want to prove me wrong By all means, I wouldn't mind being wrong :P

OK - I am VERY suspicious of some guy with a crappy looking webpage that says he has the answer to this phone varification issue.

However, as of right now - he has like 10 listings in the LA CL under small Biz services

I have not checked other cities for his listings so that the 10 ads or so he has in LA may be his only 10 accounts and he is probably a total scammer although he does give a phone number on his page

If you have verified accounts, say 10 of them, and different ips, what is stopping you from posting 10 ads? As long as you have enough variation in your ads. I only say that because some of the banners on his site are for an affiliate program for CL.

I have been lurking here for a few days and am sure a workaround on this will be common knowledge at some point. Maybe not soon enough if you are depending on craigslist for your income. I have been involved in internet marketing for ten years and the one thing I have learned is diversify. Never put all of your eggs in one basket. Things change dramatically way too often.
I have plenty of craigslist telephone verified accounts if interested. Just PM me.

If you're a good coder you could do something like this.

Setup a website that gives away free ringtones. The user will enter their number to receive their free ringtone. Your site/script takes their number over to Craigslist and creates a new account, cracks the CAPTCHA and enters the users phone number. On your ringtones site you will ask the person to enter the code they received from the automated call to get their free ringtone. They enter the phone number and your script enters it over on Craigslist.

Then send the user to your ringtone affiliate link
