Kaspersky is hands down the best one out there. I have used them for 2 years now and never had any problems. It's not bloated like NortonsAV, stops so much from getting into your computer. Plus you can get it piratically free after rebates at Frys.

AVG is the best under the overall criteria of 1-it works, 2-it's free, 3-it updates, and 4-little or no nagging about paid upgrades.

    Exclamation Re: Best Anti- Virus

Switched from using AVG free (for 4 years) to Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition since I can dl it from my employer for free. I dl'd it after my free trial of Norton expired on my new laptop, because I was surprised at how much less invasive Norton is now. Works well, doesn't hog resources or nag you anything like it used to. I had given ESET NOD32 a shot, but it was as invasive / resource hungry as Norton used to be.

You can try Avira (Free or Pay Edition) + Malwarebytes + CCleaner.

Kaspersky was the best in past times, it was the nightmare for hackers, but now i think its not the best, nod32 its very good too.

I have used Avast on every computer I work on (and have recommended it to family and friends) for the past three years. Probably over 20 computers I know of running it. It is free (renew registration every year for free). They constantly update it.

The best recommendation is performance...In those three years, NONE of these computers has EVER had a virus that has not been caught by Avast and EVERY one that has been caught has been removed without any problems.

    Eset Nod32...The BEST!!!

I have used this antivirus for last 5 years. I have also tried all other well known antiviruses but ditched them in favour of ESET. Hustle free, light on resources and does what it is supposed to do.

I agree. Use avast for daily cleaning and then once a week use malawarebytes then you are good.

I also used Advanced system care (free) to clean up bad files, bad registry and bad links.

KIS first, NOD second based on what the private packers atm can do.

In case you do not know, you can buy tools that make viruses undetected at runtime for EVERY antivirus.

My advice: Install KIS and pray you are not unlucky enough to get a Tesla infected file

im using avast free edition ,xoftspy and Malwarebytes free edition right now. i used to use avg but it f**king sucks now (uses to many resources) and when my windows pc is very badly infected to the point where it stops all my virus scanners from working at all or preventing them all from even stating i whip out the BEST MOST POWERFUL virus destroyer of them all its called COMBOFIX and you only run it when you suspect a virus.its free too! it's worked every time for me so try this sucker out BHW.get it here:

At the moment i am using the new Microsoft Security Essentials which is actually not a bad product. It is free from MS to download and it updates.

For free products other than the above i have been using AVG Free edition. I did change over to Avira earlier in the year after a recommendation however there were way too many pop-ups for my liking and went back to AVG.

Paid i tend to put my clients on Trend Micro products.

I have been using AVG for several years with no big complaints, then switched to NOD32 for about a year and I have to say, NOD32 barely uses any resources and is the quickest booting anti-virus I've ever used.
