    Default Cracking Walmart WIFI

So, I'm wondering if WalMart's have wifi for their stores.

If so, I really want to crack the WEP or WPA keys.

Does anyone work at Walmart or know anything?

Actually yes, I used to work in a computer shop in a very small town. The local wal-mart had a power surge and lost some of their wifi repeaters and I replaced them.

Unfortunately the wifi network is not for internet access, it is for those little hand gun scanner things to communicate over. The network helps keep track of stock, prices etc.

The network is also MAC address filtered, which means that it looks at each individual computer connecting to the network to see if it is allowed to connect. Even if you did manage to crack the WEP key you would not be allowed to access the network because your laptops MAC address is not in the list of allowed mac-addresses.

Some of the McDonalds restaraunts in the wal-marts have wifi though and it is often free so maybe try that!

I just don't see why we don't become universal wifi.

Ok I see why but it's still a cool notion

No, lol. None of our shops are open 24/7. I'm pretty sure most/all Walmarts aren't open 24/7...they usually close around 11.
ForeverNever - I think you'll see that in quite the near future...in less than 10 years I say we have universal WiFi. We already have those Verizon VZAccess Anywhere cards...that's only the first step.

Wrong, many Walmarts are open 24 hours, and the best time to go is after 1-2am. This way you don't have to deal with the idiots...

Most of our Mc D's are 24 hours as well.

It all depends on where you are though...

I think that may only be Super Walmarts...of which there's only like 5 in Connecticut, and none near me.

It's not as if having MAC filtering enabled makes any difference. If there are associated clients, you'll see their MAC address. Spoofing a MAC is trivial.

    1. You need to know what address to spoof into.
    2. You will have issues if the device that you have the same mac address of is online at the same time.

On an 802.11 b/g, the mac address is sent in clear text so thats probably one of the easiest to get. WEP can be cracked in 12 minutes or less depending on how powerful your computer is. WPA and WPA2 I heard is not crackable. Not sure how 802.11 N sends the signal.

Spoofing macs are easy. Download a live CD of Backtrack linux distro. do some youtube research and you'll be up and running in no time. WPA is crackable i don't know about WPA2 tho but I believe it is.
