One of the biggest hurdles for me is using proxies - just don't know the best way to have anonymous surfing etc.

Depends on the type of anonymity you're looking for really.

SOCKS Chaining is probably the way to go if you're looking to be criminally anonymous. TOR is good if you're looking for casual anonymity, as is software such as MultiProxy.

If you're looking for anonymity that provides consistency for black hat endeavors such as having multi accounts with a popular site then you may wish to subscribe to a service that provides multiple static ips for your use, or a service like nomoreproxys... depending on how often a service such as that is abused.

Thanks - anyone else with opinions? I am mainly thinking of cookie stuffing egay and don#t wanna get caught. I have read that you need high anonymity for this.

...where did you read that nonsense? You don't need proxies for cookie stuffing.
