Wiki editors are like powerful combatant, they can spot you a mile a way and they can kick you out of the line within seconds(yes thats true). Only people of academic and scholastic background can post approvable articles in wiki. Im not a great writer but I surely can write a decent and grammatically perfect articles. I made an article for 2 days which is totally not related to any of my niche and didnt even posted any bias links, after exactly just 10 minutes, my article was rejected. Seems like you need to really pay a regular wiki writer if you wish to be featured. Btw, wiki uses no-follow so not really good in link building. Whats great about it is the reputation and instant authority once you get featured since Google usually ranks wiki pages very high

They also don't like sites with ads/aff links on them, even though I've encountered many sites that had adsense on them being linked from wikipedia.

Exactly!!!

A bunch of losers who sit around all day protecting a page on a website they dont make shit from.

If they wanna geekout so much at least they could team-up and sell the damn links they protect.

Actually, i suggest not to spam wiki, some reasons below:

1. in my EXP, there is no any effect to your rank in each SE now.
2. many wikis setup in the .gov .org .edu domain.
3. most of wiki owners will find your spam and modify it quickly.

so, i think many bh wanna get backlink from wikis, yes you will and get many links, some years it's useful, but but there is no any valuable for the rank in SE now. you may try it

and BTW i have 1 software to submit wiki automaticly, it works so fine. because of no effer, i haven't use it any more.

the tools which i use to post the wiki is a Chinese tool:
it names: WIKI英文群发软件
i don't know if you can seee its name. it's chinese. tranlate to english:
you may call it: English WIKI blaster.
if you can read Chinese, you may visit h**p://www.se*orj.cn/html/1/0/29/1.htm

anyway i don't recommend you to buy or use this kind of the soft, i mean wiki blast.

I edited a couple of articles last year to fix errors and I decided to add my links to them. The links went live as well as my edits to the articles. The problem was like mentioned above it lasted a short time, The links lasted a few hours and the edits were also taken out. I did get about 300 unique visitors in that short period of time.

I actually have 3 "external links" on wiki to some of my pages that have been there for over 2 years. I'm still amazed. But I agree, wiki is patroled by fuck-dorks who have nothing better to do. Hmmm...kinda like Craigslist

wikipedia is loosing google love. In the past wikipedia was the first one allways, but now that's not happening, wikipedia is beginning to loose rankings.

More people adding the WP nofollow plugin for wikipedia links has them losing backlinks in a wholesale fashion.

I like to talk numbers and I think you're totally wrong if we consider the previous examples
in addition google and Wiki are going hand in hand in terms of traffic, it seems they sustain each 'other (or google backing wiki at least) see this graph

Google and Wikipedia are pretty much in bed together. If you look for someone famous or even for a lot of terms Wikipedia is number one through three so much of the time it's incredible. Also WP nofollow I didn't even realize it was a plugin. WP as far as I know means WordPress and by default they are all nofollow. You actually have to install a WP dofollow plugin.

You can get tons of uniques from Wikipedia, but it requires something more than five hundered auto generated spam blogs and one lazy-ass wannabe-internet "marketer".

Okay, so here's the deal. First you need a site, witch is absolutely relevant to that topic you're going to put your link. It has to be clean, good looking and not spammy. Then you register yourself and start editing that article. Do NOT just put your link in the article. You have to edit that article little bit better, just fix it a little and add some extra information and use proper english (all your time and effort is worth nothing if you write english as badly as I do). Then - not any sooner - you add your link in "read more"-section. Remember to use good title, clickable, relevant but not spammy or ad-like (ad-like, is that even a word?).

This is important: there's little text box before "submit"-button. You write couple words in the text box to explain, what you did. Like this "fixed some typos, added some missing information and a link". Why's this? Becouse, there are some nolife dudes sitting in front of their computer all day (hmm... just like me) and hitting refresh on "recent changes"-page on Wikipedia. Important thing is that you don't look like advertiser, you have to act like normal wikipedia volunteer.

If someone needs more tips and tricks about this topic, just lemme know.

Try using outside trustworthy sources, citing them, and making your article sound much more authoritative next time. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, and most editors take that very seriously (hence the success of wikipedia). Sound like you did your research (or actually do your research), quote it, cite your sources, and write like an authority on the subject, and you should get approved without a problem.

WP is default nofollow for comments, but not posts or blogroll.

Here's the discussion on Wikipedia's decision to nofollow links. Here are two plugins specifically designed to return the favor.

GP. I've been editing Wikipedia for 3 years, and I've never had a link removed. I have had to deal with more than a few of their self-described and completely asinine edit warriors, however.

One tip I might add. Register before making any edits. If you edit as an unregistered user your IP will show in the history. It's a big fat red flag.

yeah I totally agree with you
here some quicky tips you need to know about wikipedia to round out the picture so:
  • sign up for an account this will ease things and save some time
  • confirm your email to increase loyabilty
  • read the getting started introduction

before you start dumping links I think gaining some reputation is prerequiste

look for untapped to topics, just whatever you find
write about them or hire someone to do it, don't put links

how to find pages waiting for writers:

type 'WikiProjects' into the 'Search' field and click 'Go'.

choose your topic and click edit

Now after you make a couple of contributions you can start posting your links
without worrying

what to do to get your links approved:

your links should be accurate, on-topic and directly related to the article's subject so you have to take time

looking for what matches your site

normally external links are meant to give more info on the same topic I say the very same subject, however

certain types of websites are rejected no matter how relevant they are

tips:

- paid sites or sites that sell products or services, or a site overwhelmed by advertising.
- obviously links should direct to stable areas not forums, social media or temporary internet content...etc
- Links to blogs and personal web pages unless you blog is well-known or directly related to the topic

sorry for not being elaborate I'll write a complete article next time
