You can simply use notepad to create this type of file and save it as ".htaccess"

now i'm not sure about the actual content of the file, because it all depends what type of script or server you are running.

Sometimes you can leave it blank and make it writable and Wordpress automatically insert the proper content.

Some ftp programs hide the .htaccess files by default, so check your settings as it might be there.

If not, it;s really just a special text file so you can create it on your pc and upload it. (My windows beeotches when I try to create a .htaccess file on my hard drive, so when I need to make a new one I just create a htaccess.txt file and then rename it on the server.)

Arrow Re: How do I create/edit .htaccess file?

another little trick is The way i use is i edit it when ive uploaded all the files to my Hosting root either main or subdomain, this was a problem for me years ago i could not see or edit any htaccess file i uploaded, this is because in the normal root it whats called a hidden file, Solve this simply by changing your cpanel look in (change style) usually at the top of the cpanel, which you can change back later if you want, change it to v or the full name v3 depending on what cpanel you have, then go to the file manager then Document root for - your domain- you should see it there in your domain file list. highlight, edit, save, (you can edit, write, pemissions, ect. simple as abc 123) hope this helps bud,
