Thank you for the info and huge resource. When you look for good ways to get backlinks on Google, you always find loads of sites helping you with link exchange. Link exchange is not worth anything anymore as far as I'm concerned.

It is very consuming even when you use link exchange management softwares, and not rewarding. Then you have to check that sites are still linking back, make sure they don't use nofollow links etc etc etc...

And anyway google doesn't like it. Three-way link exchanges are a little bit more rewarding but still... I don't bother anymore with link exchange. Always go for one-way links, the ones mentioned in this thread are some of the good ways to get good rankings through backlinks.

I'm surprised that it has taken me this long to find this post. Thanks Harro and I'll start experimenting with some of this stuff. For those that are just starting out, and trying to first get their site indexed by Google, you do not need to do it through them. This generally takes longer (I think the subdomain is /addurl.html or something like that). If you get a backlink from at least a PR5 site, you should be indexed within a couple of days. After getting indexed, then work on getting your PR increased by more (and relevant) backlinks.

Don't even bother getting a backlink, just bookmarking your site on any big social bookmarking site such as digg or delicious should do it. Your site will appear on their home page probably just for a few seconds but it's enough for your site to be indexed within a couple days because these web 2.0 sites get crawled like crazy. It's like they have a Big Daddy spider sleeping day and night on their doorstep

for link exchange use indexguy.com they wil give you a page that need to upload on your server ex. links.php where are the links to other site. Enter metatags nofollow noindex to it and google will not crawl it.

Thanks Harroo for the great post.

extractor , the list looks great. but there are tools to do the job of submitting to directories and article marketing sites. I think in the business of making money one needs to look more at automating things.. that save u time.

I also didn't fully get the one about moveabletype backlinking iether, I read the post but for some reason still didn't get it and it seemed like a lot of work to get a link when we need to get thousands of links. Could you please elaborate on that one more.
Also I do agree that google isn't valueing backlinks like they have in the past. That hurts me also as an adsense publisher I try to build a lot of sites and interlink them along with some of the other linking methods mentioned here. But I have found it difficult to keep updateing the sites and they tend to loose ranking after a while. Someone suggested the CARP script but don't know much about it.
Would be kewl to explain that a little or start a new thread on keeping sites updated and fresh.thanks
Are you saying that this is like a game of spinning plates ?

Lets hope some automation genious can help out somewhat.
