Here's a question for you. If you were to eliminate Google (and Bing, Yahoo etc.) entirely from your online marketing efforts, how would you drive traffic to your website? Where would you devote your time and energy?

I just started reading a blog from a guy who posts on here quite often. His user name is Matthew Woodward. I was like ok I'll look it up. And he said on his blog that he isn't building any backlinks at all. I'm sure at some point he has ranked naturally in Google, but what I'm guessing has happened is that people share his stuff so much that it just gets a ripple effect. Anyway I only started reading yesterday and I'm already hooked.

In my experience the best way to drive traffic to a website is to build a list. The problem is that a lot of people don't see your updates on social media. EVERYONE on your list will get an email in their inbox.

Matthew Woodards video are super high quality, and should be watched by noobs and pros alike.

Give it a try FACEBOOK . You can drive a lot of traffic from this huge site. If I'll be in your place, I'll not forget about google, bing and yahoo

One of my niche sites is purely driven by Facebook and twitter traffic.

The one thing I will say is that although social media can drive traffic, you need to remember why people are on social media in the first place: They are there for the entertainment and social experience. People don't go to social media to buy stuff therefore social media traffic has a tendency not to convert too good.

I'm not trying to deter you from social media campaigns but just be aware unless you understand who you are aiming for on social media and have the perfect product, you may waste a lot of advertising money until you get it right.

You will always need the search engine model to make money because people use search engines to solve a problem.

Good luck!

As Google pushes webmasters out of the game, Facebook and Twitter gain traction.

Latest filings say over 20% of Google's ad income comes from the content network, all their content is created by webmasters. Imagine if the WWW end users were to switch to the Facebook platform en masse, Google would be in trouble.

the changes of algorithm is annoying to users too, i searches several things last night and i was pissed, stupid result, all the good info dropped to page 2, not sure why, maybe something wrong in my end.

Anyway, I would say social media and build your audience. In the case of Matthew Woodward, he is just the man, once you stick to his blog, you can't get away ;)

You can also buy traffic from advertisers. There are so many companies out there.

One Answer :- Social (Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, Youtube)

This is what I am doing. Some time back, my entire online business was destroyed by those animal updates but I thanks to Google for doing it. It forced me to find a new way to get targeted traffic and reach those people. From that day to today I have been doing direct marketing for all my sites and I don't depend on Google.
