Default Where did you start? (Another n00b thread)

After learning about IM and SEO a few weeks ago now, I have been using my spare time researching here on BHW (very helpful btw). Im not looking to be spoonfed but how did you spend your time learning the basics / improving IM when you started out?

    Thankyou.

When I was fourteen, my mother nagged me to get a job at KFC. I got the job, and they said they would call me within a week and tell me when I start. Seven years later and I'm still waiting for that phone call...

I thought to hell with these guys! Taught myself how to make a website, then stumbled upon an IM forum, learnt you can make money from a website. Spent the first six months trying EVERY method I came across. Article marketing, content creation, seo, blogs, PPC, you name it I did it. Eventually, I started making some cash and it grew year by year. I developed my methods, my own techniques and have never looked back since.

My advice to you, try everything. Eventually, you'll start building links in your memory and new ideas will come to you, keep playing the game. You'll soon start making money. Especially since there are SO many more resources available now than seven years ago. I've seen guys starting up and making their first $100 in a week.

I started bad. Spent 6 months reading up on CPA. Finally decided it was too hard and gave up. Fast forward a few more months, and I came back, determined to give it a try and push some big bucks. I failed. Again and again. Spent a year, got nowhere. After that, I almost gave up on earning money online. But, I found I was spending more and more time watching some shows online. This gave me the idea to make a streaming site. I did, spent a year building it up. Made it to 15,000 unique visitors per day. Then decided to sell it for $1,500, which at the time, was a lot for me, and very helpful since I desperately needed it.

Fast forward another year, I had another streaming site, but had learned about SEO. I gave it a go, and made it to around 20-30k unique visitors per day. I ended up killing it by accident, making around $5/day, so I made another site, while I redirected the dead .COM to a .TV - which is now hitting between 20-50k unique visitors per day, but that other site I made, with the knowledge of how not to kill a site in the SERPs helped me pick up my earnings from $5 to over $100 per day.

Ever since then, I've invested in making new streaming sites in many different areas of entertainment, and am making a lot more. But I had to go through years of failure, coupled with so many damn mistakes before I made it here.

Yes it's a little long... but the moral of the story is: Keep trying. I originally gave up before even trying, simply because it sounded too difficult. When I finally had the determination to do it, I failed at it. Don't let failures stop you from pushing even harder. Just because this time was a failure, doesn't mean next time will be. :]

Hope that helps. Also, sorry for the long essay-like post.

    Regards,
    ~ver.

I started making money online by providing graphic service on a forum. Then with that money I started to buy ebooks about making money (most of them was useless to me although some did teach me a few things and the methods in most cases were freely available in places like bhw). i still provide graphic service every now and again. I also make one site pages for a regular customer. But i recently started to try youtube + cpa method even though i knew about this a 2 years ago...and i only have set up one niche which is making me 1 - 5 dollars a day on autopilot.

i am thinking to upscale youtube + CPA after my exams finish and provide graphic, website and programming services and hopefully get many regular customers. Once i make enough money i will invest into other methods.

i suggest you to learn as many different skills as you can which i will be doing over the next year. My graphic, website, programming and video skills come in to play very nicely with youtube + CPA. SEO is next on my to do list.

Reselling Fiverr gigs is always good. Do it for a few times, than your morale will be higher.

I basically read everything there was to read (Energy drinks and having 50+ tabs open was the norm for me) . Took notes and applied what I learned until I figured out what worked and what didn't.

The real results came from applying what I learned over the years.

I quit my job because I disliked my boss and wasn't getting paid for all the hours I worked. I had a son, so it was difficult to support my family - however this situation gave me the boost needed to make a full-time income online. I had about 50 domains - I sold some and built up some brandable websites to keep on my own. SEO isn't too difficult, its about taking action!

More recently in my life, I think I became addicted to energy drinks as I try to stay up all day and night working. It takes a lot of time and effort to make money through IM.
