I bought out a competitor who was an eBay Seller that has done over 240,000 transactions in the past couple of years. The list of email addresses, names, addresses, etc were acquired from this sellers PayPal transaction records. So, I have a list of roughly 240,000 people who have bought items between $1 USD and $400 USD. I want to utilize this list of people to build a list so that I can send offers to.

How can I do this? Should I hire someone to send e-mails to people asking them to opt in to my list? Currently I'm using officeautopilote. Im worried that if I just send some random email saying "hey opt in to my list" -nobody would actually spend the time to click a link to opt in and I would be losing out on a way to make some decent money by promoting offers to my list.

Should I send them an offer to enter to win a $100 eBay Giftcard? Would that be too spammy?

I dont think I was being very clear. How do I add so many people to my list?

1) You need a way to manage that list. Mailchimp etc
2) Since its a large list presumably collected over a couple of years, you will need to scrub that list.
The best way to do that is to send everyone an opt-in confirmation. That way your list is true "double opt-in".
Unfortunately you would have to make it a "Ebay storename Mailing list. Confirm your subscription to get in a chance to win a coupon or stay up to date with the latest ebay offers"
Its cheesy, but you MUST make sure everyone actually wants to be on your list before sending them any email offers.

Not only will mail providers love you more, but you won't get your list banned due to
- dead emails
- spam complaints
- etc

Nothing's going to kill your new list more than spam complaints.

3) Once you have a properly imported and scrubbed list, you can begin a marketing campaign.
