No offence but if the competitor is using automated tools and has some 50,000+ backlinks then YES!
But if it does all manual link building and has got just few backlinks then it might work. But still, try to get even more quality backlinks than the competitors since you are looking to rank above them.

Good strategy if you are trusting your competitors backlinks and how many they have. If you are talking about a few links here and there... no biggie. but also realize those are the ones that are live now. They may be using a service or something like was mentioned earlier.

Manual backlinking, guest blogging, or even great content takes skills and knowing how to perform these task and get the most out of them. You can only get there with practice and lots of learning. Making money online isn't the easy way that is so many times shown. It takes a lot of dedication and performance.

Now you can start and don't get beat down but keep going. You have all the resources you need here in BHW and a few google searches. Anchor text etc will be important and using software can speed it up but the knowledge and wisdom will come with experience.
