Question about comments on my blog
Ok, so as everyone knows by now, I recently told the story of my situation from this year, and people are able to view my blog. I moderate all comments before they are made public. I noticed one comment earlier about escorts or something along those lines. For obvious reasons, I deleted that comment. But now I notice two comments that direct to a shopping website. The thing is, I do want my blog to become popular and maybe even go viral, but at the same time I don't want a crap load of spammy or irrelevant comments. I mean, I guess I don't mind some here and there mixed in with relevant comments but my question is this. If I allow irrelevant comments on my blog, will that even help the rankings? I know absolute shit about SEO, so I am kinda stumped.

Re: Question about comments on my blog
I don't think crappy links do any good to your rankings. These comments should be deleted. In simple words, they are crap and their place is garbage bin. By the way, could you please share your website URL. I would also want to follow it.
Edit: Just saw the link. It's in your signature.
Cheers

Re: Question about comments on my blog
In my opinion, fresh comment does help you in ranking for long tail keywords but only if its relevant. New relevant blog comments mean fresh content to existing webpage and it helps google to understand your page content better. But only relevant content.

Edit them. Remove the link, change the name (a pen name you make up) write a decent question to yourself, or a thoughtful and relevent apprasal of the post or page it's on - then log in as admin and answer/respond to it
Presto something good created out of spam.

I was thinking to myself how to use some of the spam comments I get to my advantage. Thanks for the idea.

Moderate them. Spam comments aren't helping you, and could be hurting.
