I have read it and it is definitely a good read if you are into adwords and want to give the content network a shot.

the book is pretty much irrelevant since you cant do CPM ads anymore

That is not true. With placement ads you have the option to set your pricing at CPC or CPM. Minimum CPM is $0.25.

Not to mention Adwords 180 is updated on a regular basis. The book is kind of drawn out for the information it covers but it does have good information.

No, definately worth a read if you use Adwords. I've gotten some converting clicks for 3 or 4 cents in a competitive niche.
