That's interesting - doubt it is the end of negative SEO.

I am scared to press that 'disavow links' button. I got no clue what it will do or where it will take me.

I just used it to remove some low quality directories. Just keep clicking disavow, then it takes you to a page where you upload a txt file with all the links you want disavowed. You then press submit and nothing happens.... at least not yet. I have a feeling it will take Google awhile to process the file, and when it does not sure what will happen.

It's apparently a process that will take a few days to action. I'm going to drop WMT and GA from any blackhat sites. Last thing I want is Google snooping about link profiles. I'd be very careful when using this. Also it's supposed to "discount" the links you point it to, technically making them "nofollow" and it won't harm the other site.

Think they will allow me to disavow all my EMD's which got hit? By the way to all the serious people that was a joke, but seriously some of my sites got hit by NSEO and as a result disappeared, I have never used GWMT as I do not think it is wise to give Google anymore information than they need. But if I used it do you think I could get some of my hit sites back?

The biggest takeaways of this announcement I found s this:

1. Google will take time processing your link removal file

They won't immediately discount links, and even then they are only going to apply the NoFollow attribute. This won't be an immediate solution and will take time, up to two weeks to see some type of movement in the rankings if you even see anything at all.

2. Google wants you to remove your links first and foremost

This I found very shocking, Google wants you to remove your links to begin with and then use the disavow tool as a backup to those that cannot be removed. I have used linkdelete.com for removing links, I would have though the disavow tool would have killed their business overnight. Seems like Google's giving them some type of credit and telling people to use their serviecs before turning to the disavow tool. I am wondering if the disavow tool is nothing more than smoke and mirrors and doesn't actually do anything at all?

Ok this confuses me, how does adding the "No follow" attribute help you get rid of bad backlinks in anyway? Most shit backlinks are already no follow, the point of the disavow tool should of been to remove the link value all together not just "No follow" it.

how can you find bad links without yahoo explorer?
which tool or site u guys use?

The end of negative SEO?

No way!

Most people that do negative seo blast a website 10's of thousands of backlinks. That means you would have to disavow each individual backlink. If anything, it could trigger more. Knowing this could take negative seo even more out of control.

The impression I get is kind of like the reconsideration request, they want you to use it and basically admit you are guilty.

This could definitely help me out on some sites. Now what we need is someone to create a tool or service that will go through your backlinks and give you a list of bad links.

Anyone know of such a tool? I'll probably use SB to try and weed out links but something more specific would be nice.

I am going to sit on the sidelines with this one, or maybe test it on one of my slapped sites I'm not sure yet. I think this could either be a flop, harmful, or a good thing. I can just see the rush of SEO's doing link removal like it's a bad tattoo as they attempt to remove the excess weight so they can float to the top of rankings.

I've only seen one such tool and it was terribly inaccurate often flagging good links as bad.

You can use Majestic SEO and Open Site Explorer and SEO SpyGlass

Yes,

please give Google all your backlinks - shifting the algorithm while making a blacklist of links has never been easier. Are you really that naive & ignorant? Jeez..

That is exactly what they are going to do. Webmasters are going to HELP Google identify what backlinks are bad and blacklist them and/or domains.

Every time Google puts out this nifty cool tool, as Matt Cutts says, there is ALWAYS a downside. They will collect all this data and use it on the next algo update.

How far can this be useful when GWT doesn't show all the backlinks?
