Going so well, then bam!

Was recently working on one of my main sites. Slowly building links, from not the best quality all the way up to some juicy PR9 links, no spam.

The rankings were increasing well, not too fast but sure enough. More of my keywords were starting to rank.

Then suddenly I got butt assaulted, now all of my keywords are out of the top 500 - bar one.

That keyword doesn't have much competition and is pretty much my URL. It's still ranked number 1.


Has the new update ruined me? Is there anyway back from this complete devastation?

Calm down on the linking and wait a while, then do a shit ton of wiki backlink
 
If it's nearly 500 keywords I doubt it's a dance.

Try high PR manual link building for awhile. Make sure to to change up the anchor text as well the URL's. Try different things and see what works. Go from articles to web 2.0.

What have you been doing differently?

How's your anchor diversity and did you get any notice in WMT? When did the drop occur?

To be perfectly honest, the best juice right now comes from relevancy and not PR. I could take a PR 0 link that is highly relevant, and it will push a site farther up the ranks then a PR 5 irrelevant backlink.

Keep an eye on webmaster tools and don't stop building links. Make sure to build links to your interior pages as well. This sends the signal that your site has depth and is worthy for ranking on single/more competitive keywords.

soudns like you got hit by penguin....

are you building any type of diversity into your linkbuilding techniques? such as anchor text, urls you are backlinking, type of backlinks etc?

that's something to think about during any seo campaign and i recommend you starting to do that now if you haven't already..

I agree with assphuck , try building different types of back links to more relevant sites while switching up your anchor text.
 
Check Gbot visits, if it visit you a lot then its not penalty, just dancing.
If you are having penalty, try diversify your links and the achor.
DO NOT submit for a reconsideration
 
I believe it could also be partially because you have too many links pointing to your site vs. amount of daily visitors to your site.

Well, I'll just reply best I can;

• No warning from Webmaster
• Link diversity is pretty great in my opinion, I've spread it well
• Anchor text has been carefully planned
• Links were built in a maintained manner, no sharp spikes.
• Traffic is great, despite ranking, due to advertisement through other methods. - So there's the traffic / link ratio is pretty good.

I assumed at first it was a dance due to some pretty solid links I input last week, about 30 PR9's, all under 0-10 OBL. - However everything's just off the radar, the strangest thing is that I'm still ranked number 1 for a keyword that's never really been any trouble, due to the fact it's my site URL - so I'm just confused!

I'll maintain the link building, try to drive the traffic up a little and see what happens. - To be honest I don't think I've been slapped but somethings not right here!
 
Have you checked if one of your competitors made a blast with bad links to your website?

I fail to see what you've actually did wrong, but yea, perhaps, that 30 PR9's in a week is moving a little bit too fast!
 
Drip feed your backlinks and focus on the hundreds of money making methods that are free from Google animal reach. The beauty of bhw is multiple lines of attack. Google is still your bitch or your Ex who you no longer pay attention too whenever you choose. Why walk around on eggshells?? :p

Direct advertising has paid off well, however the site will bank on kids that don't run in the big boy circles I do, Googling what my sites about.


The 30PR9's were meant to be the icing on the cake!

I've but my links SOLID as anything. Every thing has been diverse, well spun, original, dripped. Apart from the start of the campaign, the rest was to the letter, by the book and followed the path to god!
 
You have real PR9 links?

If so then it's just a dance, just wait a couple of days and it will recover.
 
If the ranking has been steady and suddenly you went out of top 500, it might be anchor text diversity.

Any of your money keywords is more than 10% of your anchor text profile? You can check it in ahrefs without even logging in. If yes, this could most likely be the reason. It has happened to a lot of my sites irrespective of the quality of links.
 
Probably just dance, wait for a few more days and I suggest you to get some small amounts of other backlinks types.
