I am sick of trying to use those lame proxy sites online. When you guys are talking about using proxies, I'm assuming you have your IE or Firefox setup to manually configure the proxy right?
And what are the risks of this?
Basically I'm looking for proxy basics.
Thanks
There are various proxy manager extensions for firefox that are pretty good. I usually make my own proxies.
Anything you find publicly listed is either going to be very busy (slow) or worthless for some other reason.
Frequently, blackhat (hackers) can buy "socks" from bot masters on IRC.
This allows you to toggle Tor on and off from within firefox, after lauching Vidalia and Privoxy (Tor). You can also configure Tor to work from within IE.

Thats a useful piece of info.
Thank you so much and it made a lot of things for me
But is tor just like, say, ghostsurf? I have that but my concern is that, yeah, it hides MY ip but it's just one or two of their ips you go through. If those get banned you're back to square one. Unless I'm mistaken.
Screw that, code yourself a little pice of software to bounce connections off of, send it to some loser online, let them run it, and bounce off of there connection. Build up yourself an army of these (unknown private) proxys.
need help codeing the software?
drop me a message.
