Default Is it worth starting a new porn/adult website?

Please excuse me if this is already asked.
I am planning to start porn video website similar to pornhub, youporn etc.
Do i have any chance to rank high in google, lets say top 10, for so competitive keywords like sex, porn, porno etc?
I think it is a lost cause and i'll waste my time and money, but i need more opinions.
    Thank you very much.

I would suggest going to these sites that you see as competition and do your research. There's a lot of SOCIAL things going on at these sites which means drama in the fan base. Figure out why people are leaving site A, B and C.

What makes some of these sites really popular is all the USER generated content, user videos, user profiles, user stories, user pictures. These people have GIGS of content in their wank bank they're looking to upload.

I'm far from being a seo guru, but u don't have to rank for those words, I'm sure there are endless keywords for that. just be creative!

Anything's possible, but most things are not likely. This is one of them. You'd be going up against companies who spend tens of thousands of dollars (if not more) on promotion, in a niche where profit is dying rapidly.
If you really think you need to do adult, focus on a small niche where the competition isn't as cutthroat.

If you're going to do it be sure to make your site stand out from the other million porn sites online. How to go about doing that is on you.

I started recently with the adult/dating niche and made $930 in two weeks, without too much work. I just want to go "big" or at least try to be.
Anyway thank you for your feedback guys/girls, it is very appreciated.
    Best regards.

I would say there are about a million other things you can do better than starting a porn site. Has to be the hardest possible thing to start out with, along with trying to rank for viagra haha.

This is a post i made in another thread!

Be warned!! The hosting fee's for a stream video site is high!

I set up a site about 3 years ago called nakedsource. My hosting fee's where over $2000 a month.Thats with over 6,000 uniques a day. I then started hosting the videos on megaupload () and steamed the feed to my site to save bandwidth. Still was costing me about $800 to run the site a month with that traffic. << Maybe I was getting ripped off by the host but at the time it was the best deal i could find for an adult hosting company.

My revenue varied between $500 - $1000 a month. So as you can see its not as profitable as you think! Thats with experamenting with Adbrite (black lable ads), Fling.com, adult friend finder, cams.com, jasmine webcams and other adult sites.

I think if i was willing to take a few months loses in bandwidth fee's while i grew the site to about 100,000 uniques a day then things might of turned around.

Maybe there are ways of reducing the bandwidth?? you'll need to looking in to this.

My best advice would be to target one niche, i.e. big booty, shemales, milfs, asian girls etc etc just one niche per site. So that you become a "place to go" for that type of video. Not a general shag feast like the site i had. Think it would be alot easier to convert a niche type tubesite.

Don't try to rank for stuff like "sex, boobs, etc." Try some kind of micro-niche keyword like "Pregnant Amputee Lizard Electrocution Nun Porn". Just like regular SEO, you aren't going for the big boy terms unless you have the resources.

    1) Is it worth it? Sure. Anything is worth a try, you can never know how well something will succeed unless you try. With that said, I would stick to a specific niche. (BBW/Gay/Hentai/etc.) You'll have a better chance to succeed if you can create a tube site that specializes in something people are looking for that isn't overly saturated. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of tube sites that have general content, so specializing in a niche is a MUST.

    2) I can't really think of any affiliates to use from the top of my head since I've been out of the Adult loop for a little while now, but if you can send me a PM I can give you a number of resources.

    3) I've used a number of Search Engine Optimization software suites that target the adult industry, they are crucial in your success (in my experience). They make submitting to galleries and TPGs a breeze. I can give you more info via PM.

    4) There are a lot of top tier TGP sites, such as Ampland, among others where you can pay to features links on their site. Some of them are pricey but a lot of them are worth it. It's just a matter if you're willing to spend money or not. See the end of 2 & 3.
Purchase web traffic from a professional company on BHW :

sounds like you dont know much and want to start off in a competitive niche, i would suggest going with something a little smaller and easier to help get your bearings in internet marketing

Yes, I know thatís more competition with these keyword. I will suggest you use same keyword thatís no problem but use some short discretion along with keyword thatís very effective to increasing traffic. Many SEO companies, which are offering adult link building services adult website owners. Adult websites that have incoming one-way link, search engines will always locate them and deliver more traffic into them. When your Adult website receives high traffic, it will be indexed amongst main search results. To rank your adult website in popular search engines you also need to consider about the quality backlinks.

    Listen to Tony20.

Running real Tube sites takes lot of bandwidth and your hosting fees won't justify unless you are really experienced adult marketer.

Running fake tube sites (hosted flvs, embedded videos etc) will not get you lot of bookmarkers unless you have custom video players and something unique to offer. Without bookmarking traffic or traffic trading, tube will die eventually.

Don't send the search engine traffic to Tubes unless you are aiming to monetize with a premium area of your tube. Your conversion ratio will suffer.
If you are good at seo, do portals and blogs. You will have much better conversion ratio with adult affiliate programs this way.

Hey TheMagicNumber, I have an adult website that is averaging about 30 unique visits a day and rising (84.83% Organic traffic, 71.58% Direct) after only a month and I'm currently looking to increase my traffic and monetize it. Would you mind sharing with me your monetization methods in a pm?

If anyone else can help me with some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I started Teleteria in 1994. Since then we have built thousands of adult sites. ALL the clients who followed the marketing plan have profited and remained great clients. We launched our own adult site in 1994 and began marketing it to profit. This gives us the ability to teach our clients how to market their sites. ALL the other sites that build adult sites NEVER had their own sites and dont know how to market them. They make their profit by selling sites. There is a vast difference in dealing with us vs any other company.
Call us or visit our site and we will begin the process of teaching you how to market the site BEFORE you do business with us. 20 years as industry leader. We must be doing something right.
