Hi,

Kindly note, the information I provided here is purely after my observation and its not final and not pretending to be seo Guru.

Its a fact, after penguin, many seo service providers got hit and still working with various backlinks experiments and onsite seo strategies to bring the penalized or penguin affected sites back.

Here I am just posting my observation, how recent changes is working on.

Well, I purchased a EMD related to seo niche on Feb 2012 and started designing and filled with content from March 2012.

I have only 4 pages.

Home, Download page, Blog, contact us.

Home page - Filled with one 1000 words article (kw mentioned twice) & "lorem ipsum" stuff

Download page - Email capture page.

Blog - "lorem ipsum" stuff

Contact us - Blank page.

1. No Analytics installed.

2. No Meta description

3. No Alt Image tag.

4. No H1 Tag.

Off site seo.

I Just placed few links (around 100). Edu Profile links and web 2.0's. (Unique content and no spunned) on may 2012.

Purchased website likes.

Done Retweets.

Purchased G Plus.

The above site is ranking in first page from nowhere for the "keyword" which is medium competition. Global search - 9100000 & Exact search 18000.

All 4 pages updated with PR3. (including "lorem ipsum" blog page)

My Observation:

Penguin gives importance to On page seo - False.

Penguin Gives importance to EMD - True.

Penguin is looking for Unique content contextual backlinks - True.

Social signals is important - True.

so, it seems to be pretty easy to rank any new site rather struggling with penguin penalized site. I have other sites which got hit by penguin and testing with many variation of backlinks. showing slow progress , I will post the results later by next week with exact backlink strategy i used to recover.

I request you guys to post your thoughts on this, and your working methods to recover from penguin or ranking tactics for new sites.

Regards,
BigBuddy.

As always, what's considered unique content? There's no way Google would analyze every single piece of content found on the earth for duplicate. Quick scan.. maybe, but not extensive. It would be too CPU intensive.

Nothing changed, my autogenerated unreadable sites are ranking absolutely fine, with spam yes.
I've also never used 'social signals'.
My backlink quality is the worst you can ever imagine (pure spam), spamming a 3.5 million xrumer list to a fresh domain got me 17 weightloss keywords on the firstpage again < 12 days, thanks again google, your webspam update is working as intended.

Very Nice! when you read between the lines, this says a lot about what is going on with Google search at the moment.

Thanks for your input BigBuddy.

I have a couple questions.

1. What did you use for anchor text? Did you use raw urls and generic "click here" anchors? If so, what was your keyword to non-keyword ratio?

2. On your retweets, fb likes and +1s, did you just get a hand full or thousands? I am wondering if you just got a handful of them, just to get a social signal, or went after the large numbers.

great share BB , i thought penguin don't give any importance for profiles links but seem .edu still work ...

One of my site got hit but nothing serious, made it back to first page with the same methods, off site backlins and social traffic.
But what I realised was a new site made it to the second page in its 1st week and 1st page the 2nd week.
So you just might be right, this method works better with new sites.
Maybe, maybe not...

rawurls/natural keywords/targeted keywords - 40/40/20

Few hundreds.

I can't say this 100%, as i used both profiles and we b 2.0. It should be tested with only .edu profiles and have to see the movements.

Nice, I'm in the process of doing something similar. Will take this into consideration.

I have read few of the threads mentioned about social signals. I am gonna make some test sites as well and do some pure social signals on them.

One thing I do wanted to ask was, is social bookmarking really useful after the penguin?

yes, but i am using this for backlinking the backlinks and not for direct money sites..

Hey BB,

This can be the case of "less is more". I have a site in a competitive niche that keeps progressing steadily every day.All of the other sites o'mine sank but this one keeps going. What I did was build a couple hundred of high pr web 2.0s.No social,no G+...nothing else.Seems like contextual links are a major factor. Also,I've tried to remove as many of affiliate links as I could.

I had a 8 year old domain which was catching dust. It is a EMD domain with keywords in reverse order. Competition with quotes is 1 million and daily search volume > 6000.

Exactly one month ago I started a wordpress blog on this domain with a 1000 word main article and added 3 more 550+ word related articles. I did not even bother to change the sample page. I just bookmarked all posts and the top domain with 12 anchor texts, on 200 social boomarking sites . Within 2 weeks the site was ranking on first page of Google for all long tail keywords targeted in the posts. Site is now on the 2nd page for the main keyword. Daily unique hits are around 600. I will wait for 2-3 days to see how the new Penguin update will treat this site.

So, I guess the age of the domain plays an important role these days. My other sites where I used only social bookmarking which were ranking well after Panda updates but were penalized by Penguin.

Great share thanks, also testing things out this days and Google is really screwed

@sikandar - Mine is new domain which is ranking well. But, my aged domains are no where..

I did the same. Got a new site, posted unique content on it and dit social bookmarking, G+, retweets, a bit of manual blogging and high pr profiles. My site was ranking really well for the first two weeks. Today it got wiped out. Don't ask me why...

yes, but i am using this for backlinking the backlinks and not for direct money sites..

That sounds like a better strategy. I might do the same and stop using the Social Bookmarking on my money site.
