Create a folder on your computer and name it for your site. Inside that folder create another one and label it "site files" or something
Using your ftp program download all the files into the site files folder.
Assuming it is a php site built on wordpress or something similar you also need to get the database info.
To do that login to your cpanel and go to phpmyadmin, choose the database for your site and hit the export button.
Choose export to a file and then go, it will ask you where you want it, download it to the first folder you created (the one named for your site not the site files folder)
Create a txt file in the same folder and add any needed info like the admin username and password or whatever you think the buyer might need and save it as readme.txt.
You now have all the info you need to send the buyer (total elapsed time 10 minutes)
Now the only thing left to do is zip up the folder and send them to the buyer.

Re: How to backup a website to sell?
Depends on a lot of things mate but if you have cPanel it's quite easy.
1. Log into cPanel and go to Backups
2. Download a Home directory backup of the website you're selling. This will contain all the files, images needed to run the site.
3. If the site runs on a mySql database which is usually the case if it's on wordpress then you will need to download the SQL database. Best to get the most updated one, to get that see below:
- Go back to cPanel main page
- Click on phpMyAdmin
- Find the database on the left side panel
- Click Export, and export the entire database
4. Usually this is enough for the seller, to send them these two files they can then upload the database and also upload all the necessary files
5. For domain, it depends on your domain provider. If it's godaddy to another registrar do a search on godaddy as i cant post links yet and it will tell you how to transfer to another registrar or another godaddy account.
Make sure you change all your login details etc before you backup your mysql database incase you use it on other locations, then pass the seller all the necessary details.
really this is enough if the buyer knows what they're doing.

Re: How to backup a website to sell?
There is something more for you just try to reach it..
Run your auction for up to 30 days
Set a starting price for your bidding - start low to drive interest
Set the reserve price at the lowest price you could possibly accept
You have the option of manually accepting bids, giving you time to talk to bidders to gain confidence in their professionalism
Have confidence that you’re protected by Flippa’s comprehensive anti-fraud systems
Perhaps use a Buy It Now (BIN) price, which lets you make a quick sale!
here is all you should try it man,,
