I just want to gauge the interest in the service I am considering to offer all you lovely people in this forum.

Google Maps is the new hot SEO thing going on right now. However it's difficult if you don't have a physical address. There are lots of central London 'virtual offices' who rent you mail boxes for £40-90 per month but with a minimum 3 month contract. However, they give you the same address as all the other companies that use them - (they use them for legitimate reasons) This means that your address wont be unique.

There are some mailbox providers who offer an address like this:

suite 202, 42 street name, London, postcode, but this could be the same address not in use by an old company who isn't paying for that box anymore. So this is also now unique.

Also a factor to consider is if you are trying to rank for the same keyword as someone else with the same address I don't think you will get too far.

Here is my proposal-

I have a flat which is very, very, very close to the centre point of London. The centre point is about: WC2N5DP. My flat is very close. This has never been a business address. I want to offer a Google Maps postcard verification service. £25 per card. I will scan and email the card or just email the verification number.

Addresses will always be unique and never used again. Quick, fast and discrete service obviously. No ID needed and no footprints.

Justifying my charges: my flat could rent for £700 per week. Mail boxes close to me, ie the ones in the very centre of London are at least £70 per month with 3 month minimum contracts so its around £200 to receive just one card.

*being as close to the centre of a local search point is an important ranking factor.

Sounds like it may have some legs, Id certainly be interested in US major cities for a service like this

This would work and I will be doing it.

I have rented a local London number for £2 per month which I have set to redirect to my landline. I just pay local call charges. Plus the use of the virtual office and I have a brand new business which I can now attempt to rank for on places. Once ranked I intend to rent the website but still keeping the same local number - it will just redirect landline of the person wishing to rent from me.

Any other feedback?
