Hi, this is my first post on bhw and I have a question about blogger. Is it possible to get on the first page of the search enzines only with a blogger?

It depends on your competition and how much work you are willing to put in SEO.

Overall - yes, it is possible, because google favors blogger a lot. So a blogger blog will be displayed before say, a wordpress blog, if they both had the same indicators.

Choose your competition wisely and don't go into some huge SEO battle with a blogger blog.

If you're not willing to invest $8 in a domain, you're probably in the wrong business. Unless you're just theoretically asking, and in that case, I'd say it'd be very difficult (in competitive niches).

My first blog created last november is on page 2 now, so its possible.

I know of a blogger blog that is ranked #1 for a 5k exact local searches keyword so yes it's possible

You can rank any page of the first page of Google.

Say I own "how-to-paint-your-donkey.blogspot.com", I'm pretty sure I could rank that number 1 in Google

Using blogger to rank some keywords are achievable but don't used keywords that are heavy in competition or medium competition. Perhaps you can try some sort of micro niche focus on those keywords which have a minimum of 1 CPC (cost per click) and with 1000 (exact) or more searches per month but don't go over 5000 exact searches per month i bet it will be hard to rank for it. But if somehow you will be able to build your own high pr site or page which are free and you can find it free in the internet and its very possible.. and its very easy to do.. then go for it .. you can have unlimited high pr page if you know how.. i hope you learn something...

It's possible to get onto first page of G with anything short of a gum wrapper. Seriously, it's all about properly doing SEO.
