Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
6.5% is what i have heard is the newest level..

-
Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
That's pretty high, where did you get that from?
I keep mine around 2 to 3%.
-
-
Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
For me a certain percentage doesn't exist. If I have the KW at least once in the article, I can rank for that term.
Most of my sites/articles that are ranking are at about .8-1.5%.

Don't post things you are not sure about, this is considered to be misleading and you could eventually get banned for that.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
Likewise, I keep mine around 2 - 3 %

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
Like others here I usually aim for around 2%, but I've had excellent rankings anywhere from .5% to up over 6%. So I no longer put a whole lot of focus on attaining a set density. I 'd rather have well written content that flows well and makes sense.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I make sure mine is 7% or less... works pretty good for muah...

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
i'd say its about competition. highly competitive keyterms should have higher density, say 3 to 5 percent.
lower competition can rank by mentioning the keyword once...

Sorry I am a newbie and I learned that in a discussion with our SEO firm that takes care of one of my main sites, commercial site. He said that after the last Panda Update he felt that it slacked off from 7% to 6-6.5%. I have not been very happy with the results we have been getting and that was one of the reasons I found this forum and learned of IM. We have been getting out back-linked from competitors also. Anyways sorry if I missed spoke....

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I've always stuck around 2-3%. Some of the posts that say 6-7% seems really high.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
It depends. The best option is just to write natural copy. But if you're going to start looking at keyword density, there's a balance between keyword density and incoming anchor text.
If you're going to go as high as 5% keyword density on your page, you have to be more careful that you don't go too heavy on linking to the page with exact keyword anchor text every time. High keyword density + linking mostly with same anchor text = overoptimization penalty.
If you keep your density around 2 to 3% and keep your exact anchor text to your page under 50% ... you shouldn't run into an overoptimization penalty. However, if you're around 5% density and 100% of the incoming anchor text of your links is that keyword ... expect a heavy penalty on your page.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I'm at 1.7-2.5%, but only if it is easily readable. It feels like a lot though, I might use less. I am ranking for keywords that I have less than 1% though, but they aren't WP sites.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
There is none for google. and probably none for the other search engines. They look at backlinks as the most important factor. KWD could be 1 percent or 50 percent.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I use the keyword in the title tag and 1 time in the text. I usually use a variation of the keyword in the H1 - and more variations in the H2's. I'll use the exact keyword one time in the article. I rank for many

Welcome to 1998. Just be sure to make half of the keywords hidden, white text on white background. And use plenty of 1px x 1px links, too

Dont forget to cover it top to bottom in adsense ads and use clickjacking

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
Sometime many people make article un-natural by stuffing it with keyword to make higher Keyword density.
Its better to keep Keyword density at around 0.75% to 3%

-
Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
It depends on how you want to use your KWs, I prefer 1-2%.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
Kind of an old thread, but pretty useful. I was wondering what people are doing in terms of keyword density these days.
Personally, I'm keeping it between 0.5% and 2% for the main keyword. No more than 2%, or I feel like my articles just sound..weird (using the same keyword over and over). I then throw in a few variations as well. For example:
- how to become a doctor (main keyword)
- become a doctor (secondary keyword)
- becoming a doctor (secondary keyword)
-

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I instruct my writers to just write naturally and usually end up between 0.5 and 1% density. This is for articles between 500-1000 words.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I keep my density aroun 2-3%. In my opinion the text should flow naturally, and not try to stuff keywords in there to reach an ideal density. Makse sure to have some LSI keywords in there as well!

-
Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I think 1,5% to 2,5% should be fine.
-
-
Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I keep it around 2-3%, but the important thing is that it should look natural.

no one should be doing anything nowadays to increase KW density. It's much better to write LSI content and/or 2-3 keywords in the whole article. Remember these things hardly matter. I have seen sites ranking for bank authority statements who don't even have that keyword on their page.
It's always the authority backlinks and niche relevancy which dominates. Big companies just create website and offer good service and don't really care about KW percentage and things like that.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I keep mine at 2-3% with a natural flow.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
I do 1.5 to 2.0 for articles going on sites I don't have control over or for 1-off Web 2.0s and the like. I try to keep it at or under 1% for content on the actual money site. The reason why is that I don't know how google counts density when you have all of the sidebar links, navigation links, etc. in addition to the content so I play it safe to avoid a penalty.

Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
2-3% seems to work really well. Above 7.5% and you're a spammer...
-
-
Re: What's the new ideal keyword density now
2.7% ranks awesome for me (on large keywords). Usually the keyword density for my articles is from 1.8% to 4%. The articles are from 450 words to 1500.
