What is a HPBL network?
As you are already aware from reading the title, I'm new to SEO. I like to research before I make my moves, so I'm devouring a ridiculous amount of content - including terminology - as I learn about SEO. Thank god for BHW or I'd be screwed.
Today I came across the term "HPBL network" and can't for the life of me find a good explanation of this. I know what HPBL stands for, but I don't understand the structure of the network so I'm not sure how this relates back to your money sites or what the benefits/pitfalls are.
Can anyone explain this to me from step 1?
Thanks,
WCO12

Re: What is a HPBL network?
A few points you should consider when evaluating a network:
- Obviously the links need to be inserted contextually within the homepage text.
- The site content should be original and unique.
- Drip-feeding of links is essential to generate a ‘natural-looking’ link building profile.
- Most network services will offer a performance report on link building and ranking.
- Network domains should have some authority IBLs.
- Really high-end networks have very low OBL to reduce the footprint that Google may detect.
- The domains should have unique hosting set-up.
Basically there are a few risks, but the main ones are de-indexing of domains by Google and poor quality link juice being transferred to your money site. In both cases you’re not getting your money’s worth.

Re: What is a HPBL network?
Thank you for the pointers G.Verdinni. Naturally, I have more questions.
So, HPBLs are networks of sites where you buy a link that is guaranteed to be on the homepage of one of the sites on the network?
How do they make sure there is content on the site where my link makes sense? Like, if I'm pushing a money site about leather purses do I provide them a leather purse article with a link, or do they just put a random link in the middle of an article about something else?
How does this differ from creating your own link pyramid? Is it just that established HPBLs have higher PR/authority sites?

HPBL stands for "Home Page Back Links"
Most links provide your anchor text around random articles; this is called contextual links.
A link pyramid interlinks; example, Social Bookmark (SB) to your Money Site (MS), and Article to SB, etc.
High PR Networks do not do that to avoid a footprint because if Google finds a footprint they will ban everything related to each other.
Wait Until The Google June / July Update...
