you know forum signature is powerful link resource.

but do you know any forum that once change current signature will not affect your previous thread's signature ,if so,it is a unlimited backlink resource!

I've used phpBB, vbulletin, simple, and Drupal and they all update the signature in previous threads when the signature changes. You are right, if the signature didn't update in threads it could be a great resource.

vbulletin is my favorite, but I've used Simple Machines for several builds, too.
