Has anyone ever used a content locker to get a coupon deal?

I have a product that cost $x to buy without a coupon. If you apply the coupon it takes x amount of the product price. I was thinking of building a content locker and having them complete and offer (email submit) to get the coupon code. Is anyone doing such a thing?

I tested this for a few hours but got no conversions. I should probably test it for a few days but i was wondering if this is something one would use a self hosted content locker for apart from movies which i dont do.

Well, how were you getting traffic there? If the traffic is not interested in the coupons, they won't complete the offer.

I can easily get 15 conversions x $36 per day. 100% of the customers use the coupon. I wanted to monetize on this further. Why not make an extra $11.20 from each customer on a WAP deal or 1.20 on an email submit if they are willing to complete the offer to get the coupon codes? Since they are already using these codes that i give out for free why wouldnt they complete the offer?

You should certainly test it but my guess is another offer might end up overloading them. It all depends on how big of a discount and how much the user saves from the coupon. If they complete 1 offer only to have another offer put in their face, it might make them feel that the coupon was a lie (the cake is a lie!). Whereas, you could offer multiple coupons with 1-2 offers each instead. If they complete 1, see they get the coupon, then they would be likely to try for more

I am into something like this too, but instead using paypal. I want to generate a coupon, code or something like that when he finished the payment using paypal. Any idea anyone ?

this is a very powerful concept which i am working on as well but it all comes down to the type of traffic you are sending.

Yes, I once used it that way..Result was low as People find Coupon easily on other site..but still at that test I make 100$ per week..That need 30$ investment..They were starting days..Now May be Things changed more...
