Are ebay users that picky?

So after running an Ebay ad for roughly a week, I have a HORRIBLE view count. I've viewed my own ad more times than all of Ebay combined.

Because my view count is so low - I know they are simply choosing to not click on my ad and learn more. So this led me to believe that my ad title/presentation wasn't up to standards. So I changed my Title each day for the past 4 days, even added a subtitle, added a border, added highlighting, changed my item image, I've done it all.

I've done it all, and each time I change something, I still don't see any improvements. When I look at other people in the same niche, their view counts blow mine out of the water (even if they posted AFTER me!).

I'm truly out of ideas, so here's my question(s): do you think ebay users look at usernames, and number of sales, before they decide to even click on an item to check it out?

My ebay username is kinda weird, perhaps people don't respond well to it? And my sell count is low, too (but I've been a member for 1.5 years).

So what do you guys think? In your experience, can these two little details crush a campaign? Or am I just not trying hard enough to optimize my listing?

Thanks for any help,
Shaun

They only get your info after they check the ad so it can't be the user name. The othe users may have more auctions up and curious buyers will check their other auctions. Also changing the title 4 or more times means your auction is not in the same search so you may lose views due to inconsistency. Also are you a featured auction? Is your competion featured? This would make a huge difference in views. Also is there a price difference between you and your competitors?
There are lots of factors and more info from you would help to break it down a bit more. Hope I gave you sme ideas for now.

Thanks for the reply famook.

Yeah I hadn't even realized that people don't see my username or number of sales until they look at the actual listing, so now I'm completely stumped.

Featured - yes.
Competition featured - yes.
Price difference - nope.

Alright, back to staring at my view count.

I would be happy to give my thoughts if I had more info. What are the terms people would be searching to find your listing? Are you in the right category? There's so many things that can go wrong, and I've done just about all of them.

Like famook said, your competition is probably generating traffic through their other listings. This can make a big difference. You could try submitting the listing to Google Base. You'll need to have a store + the item has got to have a BIN attached. If you've got a few items you can submit via the Store Connector application. Might be worth a try, although I haven't noticed much of an advantage to using it. But I suppose it's early days with Base and a lot depends on your product. It only takes about 5 minutes to set up so what the hell!. I'd be interesting to hear if anyone is having any luck posting there.

I've done great with driving PPC traffic to my eBay auctions.
Especially for hot products and ebooks.
My view count was always greater than my competitor and they never knew what hit them!
