depends what you mean as a server, if you mean a server like a dedicated server you'd rent to allow public access make sure you isp allows it, also dont expect much as your up/down speed wont be as good as a datacenter connection, if your looking for just local serving (ie a testing server) install wamp/lamp accordingly

Please do not rent servers hosted on your personal machine.
Nobody will like it, customers will be disappointed and you will lose money in the end

You could just do VMware + Abyss web server in the virtual machine. Don't expect good connection speed unless you have amazing home internet though.
