Google Webmaster Tools

Who here uses Google webmaster tools? Would you say it is relatively safe to use or is it a footprint?

I use it under different accounts just to play it safe...

What will using it under different accounts do? It's still linked to you.

Google, as of this moment is the monopoly provider of search. Webmaster tools are lagging behind their Analytics. If you want statistics from a search engine, you are going to have to give them something in return.

Simples

I'd recommend NOT using Webmaster Tools.

I've seen more negative results from potentially using them then any positive. I generally don't tie together any of my websites at all because if one gets removed for any reason I don't want the rest to be on their radar....

If you are running a single ecommerce shop then use it.

If you are working for a client, then use it.

If you have a lot of different websites, then don't use it. Or at least make sure you cover your tracks very well.

Agree 100% with Chrisss. If you have tons of spam sites then you're just putting a bullsye on your head. But if you do a lot of white hat SEO for clients or large sites, its a big plus. Especially if you submit a sitemap.

so how about analytics? is it related to footprint...i have 5 website using G analytic in same account..

make a new account for each website, same goes for analytics. I'm not sure if they care how many accounts you have. OFC they can always link back through your ip.

With the recent Panda Update, this makes even more sense to not use GWT!!

This. I don't see any reason not to use it if you only have a few legit sites.

Why is everyone so paranoid that they are watching us so carefully? If they really are watching so closely, then surely they would easily be able to find out you own multiple domains through seeing your ip logging into a bunch of accounts, or using same cookies, or seeing the name ip for hosting, or many other ways? If you have 500 legit websites that aren't spam there is no need to be scared. Unless you are being an idiot and blasting your site daily with xrumer and scrapebox there isn't anything to worry about.

And anyway, they don't have the resources available to constantly check up on hundreds of thousands of GWT and GA accounts. They'd have to firstly see that you own multiple domains, then check them for and rule breaking for whatever, and then constantly monitor each and every site for different things they care about...i just don't see this happening tbh
