I am sure it's only a matter of time...
The system is begging to be gamed...

so what would it take?
...unique IPs and aged accounts
...a limit to how many pages are "plussed" from each account
...natural timing, spaced out over X days

Anyone working on something like this?
Or does no one want to touch g's +1 system?

It will take time before most of top websites start using +1.

I found a guy on fiverr that offers 30 +1`s, using "highly anonymous private proxies". Haven`t used his services but he has good reviews...

all the more reason to jump the gun and get them up on your own site...
I have just added them to every page of one of my sites and I am doing a little bit of experimenting with how to get more "+1" for each page.

You can have more +1 than any of the big sites pretty easily right now, and G has said they are taking +1 into account as a ranking factor, so I am really surprised more people aren't all over this...

Thanks for that, so... I'm a bit slow today, can you send me the link? I can't find it...

Are there any reports of the +1 actually being a SEO factor?

Yes, it's official.
Let me try to find the links...

Yesterday Google rolled out a new update to Webmaster Tools and Analytics, an update that lets you monitor the effect of +1 on your traffic and clickthroughs as well as demographics. In your webmaster tools you can easily see the effects of +1 under the search impact report section. You can watch if there has been any influence of the +1 button on your rankings, traffic as well as CTR. You can also see the number of times your pages have been +1'd total, meaning both from your site and the search results and you can also take a peek into your demographics and get to know a bit more about the audience that +1'd your pages.
As for the Google Analytics, you can now setup Social Plugin Tracking that will let you not only track how the users share your content via +1, but also for other large social networks, of course including Facebook and Twitter. This is great if you wish to get into the mind of your audience, as you will be able to see what do people that +1'd your site do, how long they stay, and what are their habits. You can also see how many times your pages have been tweeted, liked, +1'd etc... And you can also identify the highest social sharing pages on your website.

that's not the official from G statement though, 1 more min

Seems to be the case. I was doing some keyword research on my own site, and hitting the button made it go up for that keyword after I refreshed the search! I'm sure they are watching it though, so there's got to be a balance, as with everything else.

From G:

The +1 button and search results
How does +1 affect search results?
+1 helps people discover relevant content—a website, a Google search result, or an ad—from the people they already know and trust. Adding the +1 button to your pages lets users recommend your content, knowing that their friends and contacts will see their recommendation when it's most relevant—in the context of Google search results.

When a signed-in Google user is searching, your Google search result snippet may be annotated with the names of the user's connections who've +1'd your page. If none of a user's connections has +1'd your page, your snippet may display the aggregate number of +1's your page has received.

Does +1 affect my site's performance in search?
Content recommended by friends and acquaintances is often more relevant than content from strangers. For example, a movie review from an expert is useful, but a movie review from a friend who shares your tastes can be even better. Because of this, +1's from friends and contacts can be a useful signal to Google when determining the relevance of your page to a user's query. This is just one of many signals Google may use to determine a page's relevance and ranking, and we're constantly tweaking and improving our algorithm to improve overall search quality. For +1's, as with any new ranking signal, we'll be starting carefully and learning how those signals affect search quality.

How will the +1 button affect my traffic?
Personalized annotations next to your page in search results may increase your site's visibility and make your site's snippet more compelling, which may in turn increase the odds that users will click through to your page.

I have seen a bit of a bump as well, although I am trying to be very cautious - I think that 2 things will come into play here (eventually)

1. Velocity - like other link velocity factors, they will look for steady +1 activity and not 1k in one day, then nothing for a month

2. Volume - anyone can get 10 by asking friends, or creating fake accounts, but 10k is gonna be harder for most people, so I am guessing they will disregard small amounts of +1 but use it as a factor when there is more than some arbitrary number.

If you guys can wait a day or two, by "twiends for +1" will be done.
1 coin per +1 you give, and it costs you 1 coin for each +1 you receive...

That sounds interesting, is it your project? Do you have a link for where it will be found? (PM me if it's private) thanks!

I ordered his service and I think his username is "anujbora" if anyone needs it.
Awesome, found it!
"25 orders in queue" damn, I think this will be popular after all :p

I just started noticing this in my webmaster tools and decided to put the button on one of my sites, let's see how it goes...

reading what was actually written by G, it looks like it's only *officially* a ranking factor if you're signed into G and one of your contacts did the +1.

Unofficially though, i doubt they would ignore the data. When does G ever do that?

I would like to see some case studies with people getting a lot of +1's to test this out.

Been playing with this and can offer through 10 different accounts, 10 +1 per URL. l Keep in mind, can only do 10, but, will do it for 10 different url's of the same site. So, 100 +1 per site! Perfect for blog pages.

To keep costs down, no report, check w/webmaster tools after a few days. Just to test, I'll offer this to a few for just $11 and a honest review. What do you think? PM. :D
