Hi maxine here, well i busted my arse yesterday running a test on the so called duplicate content thing!!

I wrote 5 different articles all out of my head and they sounded very unique to me, totally all my own thoughts and ideas.

I then ran all of "my Own Content" through copyscape!

Well what a suprise it said that 50% was from here and 20% was from there...

I mean does it really matter anymore because it doesnt matter what you write anymore its always saying that someone else has already written it!

I dont know how G can punish for dup content when the net is just full of tons of the same stuff, you can write your ass of and still get the result that its duplicate content.

I'm not worrying anymore about all that crap on dup content!!

Duplicate content is not a big deal... Period... What is a big deal is how you use the content... If you have a bunch of content all centered around a specific keyword, you will rank well for that keyword.

If you go on Google's web master site you see people bitch about this all the time, that some other site is ranking better than they are for an article they wrote...

But, if their really good article is about say penguins, and they also have info about cars, and chickens, and Bar-Be-Ques, and identifying different types of scat. And then some other site grabs their article from their sites RSS feed, and his site has other articles about how to feed penguins, and taking your penguin to the movies, and giving your penguin a message...

Well then when a person goes to search for "how to care for penguins" the site dedicated to penguin lovers is going to be the one at the top of the list... Google doesn't care where the info comes from, as long as it adds to the user getting the information they want as quickly as possible, and with Big G having a chance to show them a few adds along the way of course...

So, don't worry about duplicate content, with the shear number of people that have lived in human history, the odds that you will think, say, and write down something that already hasn't already been thought, said, and written down are very slim, and Big G knows that.

Note: no penguins where hurt in the typing of this post...

It was just so frustrating xxxxTY:)

well me and a few members are running the same kind of experiment we are going to split in 4 groups in 100 blogs.

couldnt have said it any better

I have a lot of blogs all with the same dupe content running on different IP's with different adsense accounts, and they are doing just great! :D

I did a test with 2 sites with nothing but duplicate content, i mean 100% pulled off an article site, keeping authors info.. I was able to rank the sites number 2 and 3 for some hard keywords... So yeah, it's over rated..

The most important thing is making sure your site contains the necessary information that people need.

I would agree... It seems like there is Panda paranoia novadays... If it would be for dup content why is so many unique sites are down?

well explained by DebtFreeMe and really cleared something on my mind. at least a learned something new today yey for me

The only thing to worry about is if Google finds YOUR website which is full of duplicate content that was added to your site after it's already appeared on the web elsewhere, or if someone reports you because they're jealous of your ranking from duplicate content, then Google may take action and remove you from the index.

Keep in mind google adsense and google search are two different companies so even if one of your websites gets de-indexed your adsense may still survive.

@fantoms

All previous posts are proving opposite - there is no penalty for non-unique content if it is relevant. Many autoblogs are still ranking well

The next step for G. has to be A.I, reading what is actually quality well written stuff not spun crap.
Still a while to go before we get there but it will happen, then watch how many sites bomb on that algo. change.

Hi,

Just to let adsense publishers aware that there has been many cases where publishers have been banned for having no original content. Therefore, one may rank and have traffic with duplicate content but if your source of income is adsense, then try to have original content. Otherwise you are just risking your account to be banned.

Cheers,
ytterium
