Hey guys, wanted to get your opinions on this.

I've had this particular site since I first started SEO, and the first thing I got was Scrapebox (you can see where this is going...). :D

So yeah, of course what I did was blast my site. Nothing major, but enough to pick up some pretty spammy low quality links.

Now, this site has by no means failed. It's sitting at #4 for a popular term in the UK and just inside the top 20 in the US. I'm building quality links to the site daily now, 15-20 a day, adding to linklicious pro, etc etc.

But I'm just concerned that my work on this site to get it higher in both countries may go to waste because of the bad links I picked up in my early SEO days!

So my question is...would it be wise to track down some of these 'bad' links and get them deleted?

Interested to hear your views and if anybody else has debated doing/has done similar.

I think you should be fine, Keep Building Good Links, and that will help a lot.

You might expect a Google Dance also.

I would be interested in how you would be able to remove these links; it would be pretty tough to get a hold of the webmasters...

With your rankings and age, search engines will not penalize your site for offpage seo factors (such as where your backlinks are from). Otherwise SEO would be a game of spamming competitor websites with bad backlinks. It would be better worth your time to continue building quality manual backlinks to your site. Also you should check your site's on site SEO quality using a tool such as Internet Business Promoter (pro version avaible in the downloads section). Also vary your backlink sources (articles, press releases, social bookmarking, link exchanges, profile links, forum signatures, blog comments, etc.)

Also many search engines see a link as a link, and removing backlinks you think are bad might even harm your rankings.

Exactly! Good point.

waste of time. those links do not harm you. they will eventually disappear anyway. links that do harm you are one way links from your site to; banned, penalized or low quality sites.

sites that link to you wont harm you. sites that YOU link to, can.

How long will people keep believing this bullshit? Ever heard of Google Bowling? If your competitor is making 20K per day and you get him into a Google Dance it might kill his whole business at once.

Just build good links to sort of "dilute" the bad ones. Over time, the low quality links will make up a lesser percentage of your total backlinks, which will help your rankings.

Thanks for the responses, I've dropped to #9 in the UK for some reason today but I'll just keep on building with quality links and hope for the best.

as you can tell pokerente is full of Sh*t hahahaha

unless you got proof how you've brought down your competition and are nicely sitting in the #1 spot?

Ever blasted a million backlinks to a brand new site?

I am interested to know how will you ren=move this link. But I think you are doing god job Build good links it will help you a lot.

Yeah, for some reason I had it in my head that the Wordpress Blogs had an edit button!

I shot up to #3, #2 and #4 for my keywords yesterday...and promptly fell to Page 2 today...I really don't get Google sometimes. Oh well, backlink backlink backlink...

Don't even waste your time tracking them down and trying to delete them... that might in turn hurt your ranking. Just forget about them and keep building links. They will most likely dissapear anyways in the long run.
