Got a nice keyword here. Only problem is that the site has 5000 internal links, 2 external links and has a page rank of 0. I can easily get around 50-60 links from article sites, profiles etc. Should i go for it?

You need to be MUCH more specific than what you've said.

What you've said is so vague that no matter what people say it won't be based on facts.

What is the PR of the top 10 competitors?

And which site are you talking about with 5k internal links? Yours? A competitors?

Is the keyword a "buyer" keyword?

It depends on your niche market, product, price point, etc

Be more specific if you want peoples' help.

pr of top ten competitors - 0
the site belongs to a competitor
the website on the first position has 5000 internal links and 2 baclinks from other domains.
non buyer keyword.

What are you considering as "5k" internal links? (What method of observing are you using? SEO Quake?)

If all of the 10 competitors have PR 0, then you have a higher chance of ranking within the top 10.

Do remember that if you end up in positions 6-10 you only get 2% of traffic. So your goal should be top 3, if not first place.

Are there any article sites, youtube sites, etc. in the top 10? (Hubpages, ezine articles, etc)

Because if there are, then you can easily dominate.

alright, i can arrange for about 15 page rank 2 backlinks. Will that help me gain the first place?

right now i have about 95 links(according to yahoo) pointing back to my domain name, but i still can't outrank the guy on the first place. The guy on the first place got about 10 links pointing out to a particular page on his site.

It take time. Keep building more back links. Your case is easy to rank for
