Hey guys,

I started a new site about 10 days ago,

wormdrowners.com i quickly some backlink software, autoposting to directories, classifieds, SE's etc about 2000 in total, google then indexed my site. this was over a week ago. since then, google will not show anything for link:xxxxxxxx, no backlinks are showing at all and im getting no traffic from them at all.

Have i been sandboxed ? and if so, how long does it last ?

Thanks in advance

You can find yourself sandboxed upto 6 whole months.

Go into Google's webmaster tools and check external link count there.

The link: command is crap at best. It could however also mean you need more quality links as Google with worse than a pregnant horse when it comes to picking what links it does and doesnt like.

Personally I think Google's sandbox is mainly there to "forcibly encourage" webmasters to use adsense...

Google LINK: doesn't work, it's meant to suck big time so you don't spam your competitors links.

Use yahoo link tool instead.

By the way you are building links way to quickly for a new site.

What I do in a very grey hat way

Step 1 - Get Indexed (1-3 link somewhere)
Step 2 - Wait 6 months
Step 3 - Start link building

Amnesic,
Is there any reason why you wait 6 months between links?
Would it be better to get a few links each week or have you found otherwise?

With a brand new website, trying to get thousands of backlinks in a hurry will raise a red flag and "sandbox" your site.

submit a couple pages to digg or some other social bookmark site then voila you got a link google knows about... then they know about your site
