ban by a forum

Hello

I surf a forum site today and saw a message " your IP address is ban for using mutliple account".

I did not use mutliple accounts. I only have one account. I hardly surf that forum.

Could someone / scammers use my IP address to create multiple accounts at the forum ?

This once happened to me, and it was because I was in shared accomodation and my flatmate was a member of the same site. Took ages to sort out.

Maybe someone steal your wireless and register at the same forum...

I am the only person using my computer.

Everytime someone posted at the forum , the posting showed a IP address.

could IP address be used to create multiple accounts ?

or maybe you're under a transparent proxy (ip sharing). one of my isp use that
