Got A Threathening Email This Morning
Fvck, some guy just sent me email to remove one of his post..
I represent The Estate Lady professionally. We are asking you to remove this fraudulent use of her article gleaned from Ezine articles. You have altered the material so that it is unrecognizable as originally written. You are only to use these articles if you intend to keep them exactly the same with the same author attribution. What you have done violates the copyright laws, and is a punishable offense. You will be reported to the various Ezine publishers, and legal action will be begun under the copyright laws of the United States.
.. i admit i'm doing many rewritten articles for my autoblog ,but it's copyscape passed, probably this is one that i'm not aware of. is this guy bullying or something coz i dont give a shit what US law does here.
just feeling fucked up man..

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
Add a disclaimer to your site. Make it 100% crystal clear that NONE of the articles were written by you and are aggregated from other sources on the net, and it is never your intention to imply that these are written by yourself. Even go so far to add a line like "Basically I suck at writing - if I wrote something here it would be laughable. That is why I pulled many articles of what I consider excellent writing by others." Additionally, make sure you state that it is a service to your readers that you pull the stuff together for them and will immediately remove any material at the request of the original writer.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
When I first got into IM 8 years ago I listened to a tape by top guru at the time Terry Dean. He said that one thing to be prepared for in IM is nasty emails - people who wouldn't say boo to a goose in the street are capable of writing threatening and abusive emails. And he was so right, you've just got to ignore so much crap from weirdos or people who are obsessed with their little websites content (like it was their own child or something). Remove the content and don't think about it again or you've just wasted valuable thinking time.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
Tell him you didn't re write the articles at all. They were free to download from:

in the future i think i'll put a disclaimer page before everything else for precautions..
You call that a threat? I've had worse. Just ignore it.
wonder what worse had gotten into you?
guess the more you dive into IM and especially blackhat world, the more you'll be receiving 'thereathening' emails..

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
Funny that - I only ever get those emails from those with mental problems in the US.
Last one was for an article written by my worker in the Phillppines who doesn't have internet access, she travels to a cafe to send stuff. Article was totally totally different. You couldn't even call them similar. Got to love them triers with their head up their asses. Cutesy was send in the end, a notice from my US lawyers for harrasment. ISP canned for spamming. Cutesy I gotta say was good on the comment spam, had to remove close to thousand on one site. Poor girl didn't know what hit her in the end. Oh yeah it turned out that Cutesy had balls. Go figure!
Mostly I ignore them - if I think they are sweet. "NEVER NEVER" send crap back to them incase they are serious, it can then be used against you!
Yes some nutters are serious, it's what they do for a living in a fucked up country. Had one last year, they hired top lawyer in my country. Cost them a pretty packet - was all a load of bullshit - they claimed I was importing conterfiet guitars amonst other things. Shit - wouldn't know how or where to start! So we pissed them around so it would cost them a pretty packet and just before court date let rip with proof. If you can - always drag it out and give away nothing to start with! They will absoluetly love you for it at $500hr!!!! Cost me a bit too but was worth it. Went and made a deal with their competition!
Don't think that because you aren't in the US that they can't touch you, if they are serious they can and will. Also if your country has a trade agreement with US, then they have extrodition clauses in them, so be aware.
Dude ignore it or remove it if it is offending. And if they want to be trouble, see lawyer!

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
hahaha, the posts are really funny. Come to think of it, if they are so obsessed on filing a lawsuit against you for copyright infringement under the international law of copyright and trademark (of which US is part of), I bet he or she will be filing for bankruptcy. It's not cheap just to fight for 1 article published online. If they want to earn more money, then sending threatening emails is not the way to do it. However, if they are indeed serious maybe a slight % they are, it is better to get rid of that article and move on!
However, if you are dealing with a small company, let's see if they can do it. I bet they don't have the money to do so.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
If you are going to use some of the more shady methods to make some money, sure you are going to recieve emails from people claiming they are ''going to sue you lawl US Federal Law FBI CIA pew pew'' or something along those lines.
Just ignore it, 99% is bullshit anyway.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
The fact that she had posted her articles on Ezinearticles is enough to tell me that her threat is empty. Like what others said, just ignore her.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
Ask to see the registered copyright certificate, then compare the text. If there is one word difference, the complain become unrelevant...

That's funny - he's not going to be extradited for an article copied on the internet... OMG!
By the way he says he represents her professionally, which doesn't mean he's her lawyer - dont worry, he's probably just her pimp...

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
The biggest point I haven't seen anyone comment on is the allegation itself. A copyright in itself is of a specific body of work. The complainant says that it now has been altered to such a point that it is unrecognizable. That means there is no copyright infringement by their own admission. One cannot copyright a concept, but rather a specific work. By changing it to the degree that it is "unrecognizable" means there is no issue.
Does anyone remember reports in school? You go read an authority source, learn from it and write a paper based on what you learned. That is exactly what he did, and it is perfectly legal.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
I had a guy tell me he was gonna kill me because he didn't like the affiliate offer on my site.
Take it down, or better yet , redirect their IP so they can't read it , either way make them feel like the matter is cleared up.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
If it was unrecognizable then how did they know it was hers?

Legal action for an ezinearticle that was rewritten is laughable. And, you're not even in the USA so it's even more laughable...

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
I seriously doubt this is from a lawyer, as the first sentence implies. The language is common, and legal counsel will contact you by certified mail or courier with a cease and desist letter rather than an e-mail.
You could either ignore it or open a dialog and request the representation's credentials. Personally, I would ignore it.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
AHHH!!! Bad memories of APA formatted reports!! Excellent point though. Paraphrasing isn't illegal, and certainly doesn't constitute copyright infringement. The worst the OP could be guilty of is not quoting a source.

Re: Got A Threathening Email This Morning
It's something that a lawyer wouldn't pursue in a million years even if you were based in the US, which we've already established you are not, it's simply not feasible.
Sending a threatening e-mail on the off chance that the receiver pussy's out, must work every now and then otherwise these guys simply wouldn't bother.
But basically you have two options:
1. Ignore the e-mail and get on with paraphrasing more of the author's work.
2. Have fun with the sender and reply with a photo of good ole' "goatse" (if you're really interested search it on google images, but trust me when I say... don't..)
