I'm finding Google's clicks getting a bit expensive. Have any of you had any good (profitable ) experience with any 2nd tier search traffic? Looksmart, Ask, 7 Search etc? Everywhere I read seems to say stay away from them because of click fraud issue and non converting traffic.

Just thought I'd ask some black hatters for their opinions...

ask is generally classed as tier1, not so much traffic though, tier2 you are going to have to experiment, here's a list off the top of my head

good luck on your quest, its a long journey, also expect 1 engine to do better with some niches than others and the same with different geotargets... sounds fun doesnt it? haha
