Re: Evil whois idea.
There are no special requirements to become "whois" - the information is out there. I have a script installed to do my own domain name checking without sharing the information with anyone, and I let my clients use it if they want. Your plan will not get far, as I understand it - the main registrars will catch up very quickly. Stay away from that kind of trouble - there are people in the US ordered by the court to stay away from a PC connected to the Internet for this kind of scam.

Re: Evil whois idea.
It seems like you really don't know how whois works at all. Whois is a protocol, anyone with an internet connection can connect to whois servers and retrieve whois information. Whois servers themselves are run by domain registrars; the backbone DNS/whois servers, run by internic and other various organizations, contain information on each domain, as well as what registrar registered it it and the authoritative whois server for it. When you do a whois lookup you query these main whois servers (usually rs.internic.net), to find out the authoritative whois server for that domain. Then your whois client would connect to that server and get the whois information. Whois "providers", as you call them, just have scripts to do this automatically. Becoming a "provider" will server you no benefit at all because any information about the domain's registrant is already publicly available to everybody.

Thank you for explaining how whois work.
Domain data isnt that availible as you stated. I'm referring to service
by domaintools.com that sells reports of all domains that are registred by somebody. This is what i was aiming for.
But anyway , thank you.
