I've been reading the site for about a month and a half now and think this is a great community and proud to be a part of it, so here is the my initial/thank you share.

I see a lot of back and forth going on in posts regarding the legality/legal implications of a lot of different techniques. Here is a great, easy to understand website that goes in depth (and is very easy to navigate) about U.S laws regarding government surveillance, as well as a lot of ways and (free) tools you could use to protect yourself. I haven't used any of them yet so I'm not sure how well they work, but the information I've read so far sure was very good...

I am on a listserve that gets some good emails that includes these kinds of topics sometimes (including laws that could be passed, etc...). I don't get them constantly but if you think the link below helps just hit the "thanks" button and if people are interested I'll post links to this thread from the other articles I think are applicable as I get them. Knowledge is power; if you don't know, it's hard to protect yourself...
