Here's my question... I have this website i've been working on for the last 2 months. It seems to be doing well when it comes to generation traffic from other sources except for my ranking on the search engines.

I decided to squash the site and dig deep to find a domain name with the main keywords so that I can start a new site hoping it'll be more SEO Friendly. Is this the case? my previous domain had 0 search data but this one has 135,000 local and 165,000 global searches a month.

How can I motorize this? Does the domain name matter? Is it a method to have a domain relevant to the main site keywords?

I've had experience with domains in the past having semi main keywords in them and they seem to show up on the first or 2nd pages on google easily i'm hoping this is the case with my new one.

What do you think? Sorry if this is a noobs questions i'm not new this is just something new i'm getting into and want to learn.

it might give you an extra boost but in the grand scheme of things it's not going to make a difference if someone else is out-SEOing you.

I have a couple of domains similar to what you have, the domains are the exact keyword phrases being searched for. They initially landed on page one without much work, a couple of backlinks from other sites to get them indexed and that was about it.

Because I only picked up the domains due to stumbling upon the keyword phrases with the .com available I didn't put any additional work into them and they slowly slid down in ranking as others discovered the keyword phrases and started working them.

I guess it would be an interesting experiment to slowly add backlinks and see how fast and much I move up... see how much weight the domain name has compared to pure seo and backlinks.

So... even though I have the .com, somebody else is putting more work into the keywords and they are beating me. That's my experience.

Point a few good links to it, build a landing page with original content and you should be set

It definitely helps but it won't get you ranked on its own. Get a few hundred backlinks with that same keyword and you'll be good.

Did you check out how much competition there is for that keyword? That will also make a BIG difference.

Domain Name is a major ranking factor but, not an end all. I've gotten domains with completely irrelevant names ranked for my desired keywords.

You should focus on having:
- backlinks with desired keywords in anchor text
- seo friendly navigation
- keywords in urls
- appropriate meta tags
- rich / unique content

did you check if searches are exact or board?

back links will keep you on the first page, you have to build back links all the time

Directory submissions for your site's main theme are always a big plus too.

you should be making sure its exact searches. not broad

Make SEO a routine else whatever rank you achieve now, will be outrank in a month or two.
