Will Google Flag my Content as Duplicates?
Hi all,
Long time reader, just started posting.
So, my question is about the duplicate content penalty, I have found a way around it, but I am curious about this idea of mine.
Essentially I am ripping customer reviews off a site. I'm taking the reviews from several different pages, such as:
reviews.site.com/page1/reviews
reviews.site.com/page4/reviews
etc. etc..
I'm compiling the reviews together in random order on a single page, and I'm wondering if Google penalizes collections of various pages, or if duplicate content is done on a page by page basis?
For example, will Google see the individual chunks and surmise they were copied from 2 different pages? Or will Google notice that yes, chunk 1 matches a page, but chunk 2 comes from a different page and therefore my article must be unique?
To make things more interesting I found comments that are hidden with a <div>, you click a link to show the <div>, which shows you the rest of the comments. I noticed that these hidden comments aren't indexed in Google, so I am mixing these in with the comments already indexed, will that help at all?
BTW: if you are wondering how to get over duplicate content penalty it's easy, just Digg your article with good keywords and let Digg direct the traffic for you, viola, you still have good content for the visitor, google rankings be damned because you're leaching off Digg's reputation, not yours!
