HaRRo,
I use Transmit for FTP, Transmission for torrents, Colloquy for IRC, BBEdit for most code and text editing, Dropbox for file syncing, KisMAC for wireless watching, StuffIt for archiving Peak Pro for audio editing, Toast for mounting images and burning, VLC for watching movies, TurboTax for taxes, OpenOffice, and Xslimmer for tweaking.

CrossOver, Peek-a-Boo, and Little Snitch are also pretty nice.

Hey Harro, Mac is the platform I use for all my work in web design and programming, but if you want to have the best of both worlds, use Parallels Desktop to run XP virtually. You can have both Windows and Mac Programs side by side. To be honest, I do have XP on parallels and it actually runs faster then running on native mode.

I have a Hackintosh (MAC running on Intel Hardware) custom built and it works great!!!
