Made $30 on two articles today
Just a heads up to any of you that are new at making some extra $$ with AC.. Don't forget to check the "calls for content" for any of the offers from AC's partner sites. I claimed 2 of them this morning. They wanted 400 word articles on the Swine Flu and both were accepted by AC and reuters.c0m for $30. It took me about 45 mins. each to write (didn't need to research em, I just had the news on as I wrote em) SO that was a cool 30 bucks for 1 1/2
hrs work.
Also, I thought I'd share a few tips on what works for me at AC. I've got 4 good rewriters I picked up at GAF for $1 per 500 to 600 words. I took the time to email back and forth with my rewriters (once I knew they had promise)when I hired them to get them trained as to just what I needed from the articles, ( SEO, adding personality to the rewrites, proper keyword density and usage, showed em how to use DupeFree etc) and it's payed off nicely.
I submit approx. 40 articles a day and get $3.50 to $4.50 per article and very few get denied (1 - 3 per 100 submitted)
When I first started AC 2 mnths ago I was trying to submit any cr*p that rewriters sent my way, but you just end up spinning your wheels and wasting time with articles refused and time wasted submitting for tiny profits. If you put that little bit of initial time into finding and training good rewriters it totally pays off.
Hope some of this helps
and don't forget to check the "calls for content" for alot better pay per article
Good luck!

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Hey Redtide congrats!!! Firstly thanks for sharing this very very helpful information so you have your own writing team that's great! Would you be kind enough to tell us on "How you train your writers?". Is there any specific protocols you follow to get that $4.5? I too have couple of accounts and they are getting on an average $2.75/article. So where should I improve? Please help me and my bros here. Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Hey redtide,
What sort of articles are you giving your rewriters? Are they all calls for conent? Or are there topics that they don't call for that you know to consistently pay well?

Yes I do I use 4 accounts currently. 3 accts are what I consider throw away accts, meaning they arent w9 verified so when they reach the $500-$600 limit I just stop using them and start new ones.
My main acct is w9 verified and this one is where I put all my BEST articles.
I also use this acct to promote my articles for performance ppv's. It's up to a Clout level 5 already because I have multiple accts at the Soc. Networking and Bookmarging sites that I use Onlyw*re to blast them to for promotion. What I'm trying to do is build some residual income from the ppv's

Hi firefly, thanks much! As far as training them. First, when I place my ads at GAF I don't just hire writers based on the samples they provide. (theyre usually bs samples not written by the bidder) Most (but not all) rewriters @ $1 per 500 words are subpar (don't sound like they are Native English speakers) so I send them a sample of my own to rewrite when they bid. This way I don't waste time trying to train someone thats going to send me cr*p and waste my time.
When a bidder sends me a good sample (and takes the time to do so) I know I'm onto something and hire them on a "trial" basis. I send them 2 articles to start so I know what I'm working with as far as their abilities. I've created multiple "form letters" in Notepad that I paste to them with indepth instructions for training (this way I don't have to re-type the same info to every writer while I'm weeding out the good from the bad)
The key thing here is, don't waste any more time than you have to trying to train someone that isn't going to work out. Pay them for what they've completed and cut them loose quickly if you think they're going to waste your time.
requirements I give them are: pass copyscape, keywords used in title, first sentence and remainder of article for total of 2-3% keyword density, Add personality to rewrite,
dont write fluff keep it concise etc.
One more thing, and this is important. I don't stay on GAF once I hire a writer. I give them my regular email through PM ie: redtide1969 at gmai*l dot c0m. This way if the writer isn't working out, my project ad is still running. I set my ads to run for the full 60 day maximum.
This way you arent "choosing a winner" and closing out the ad.
Hope this helps!

Hi Elizebeth, you're welcome! "CFC" works out well. Whenever a good paying one is posted (they are posted at 11pm pst daily) I grab em and then write them myself the next day while my writers are working on the rewrites.
Just follow their guidelines and write them well and you're golden ;-)
Hope this helps!

Hi greven, thanks much. The absolute BEST thing anyone can do to know how to get the best upfront payments and nail down what AC is looking for is go to the front page at AC and read, examine and learn from what the top AC sources are doing. Read a few of their articles and right there you have what AC is looking for and paying the best for.
I PM'ed all the top wrriters and complimented them on their work and asked for advice. My inbox got flooded with tips and tricks by the top writers which helped alot. After putting their tips to use and learning how to optimize my articles for SEO my upfront payments went from a consistent $2-$2.50 each to $3.5-$4.50 each. Also by doing this my PPV's started to really take off.
Give AC what they're looking for and you'll make $$
Hope this helps!

I've got some articles on Bukisa too, but found it pretty ineffective. I think they shave views considerably! I have articles I've submitted to both Bukisa and AC (both equallly good unique rewrites of the same article) and both with the same amount of promotion. The AC article will get 200 views in a day and Bukisa gets like 13 views. I hate to say it, as I had high hopes for Bukisa but they're ripping people off in my opinion.
As far as samples, follow my above post and check out what the top AC sources are writing and submitting. Right there you have what works best for AC.
Good luck

I write the C4C's myself as alot of time there's a 1 day deadline on em, so it's tough to get them turned around by my writers. Plus any decent writer will want more $$ for an original that needs sources cited etc as per C4C requirements.
The C4C's are random so they're a small part of the $$ I make from AC. The articles I concentrate on are Guides, How to's, Reviews etc. The main thing is to make sure the originals are concise and well written or you can't expect the rewriters to write quality content from them.
Hope this helps

redtide1969,
Absolutely great information and very generous and kind of you to offer it here. You are very detailed in your work and description of how you do things. Surely any of us can follow your procedures and benefit from them. Good of you to take the time to answer the posted questions and provide direction, too.
Thanks for the share and input.

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
No problem you guys, I first learned about AC here and have benefited alot by the useful information and methods on this forum, so I figured helping others is the least I can do. (I spent a few months lurking before signing up here) Love this place!
Plus, considering AC seems to have changed alot since Shaqsquash first posted his excellent thread on AC, I figured we can all benefit from a current information source about the site

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Hi preedge,
Cool, I'm glad the info has been helpful. Like I said in a post above, just go to AC's main page and read over the top writers articles. My articles are following their format. Doing this was the main thing that brought my upfront offers up over $4 per.
I definately don't mind answering any questions you guys have and helping, but I prefer not to keep sending samples out.
BTW, did any of you guys claim the $15 dollar C4C yesterday on Chrysler? I did one for each of my accts. and brought home $60 for 4 articles. I'm telling you the C4C's are paying off lately if you haven't hopped on em
Regards

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Hey redtide1969 thank you for your wonderful contribution so far on this thread.
What i'd like to know is how do you format your articles; do you space out your lines, paragraphs, etc. or is it the same format you write college papers?
Also, concerning your 4 different accounts do you use 4 different paypal acocunts?
And how many articles do you submit per account?
Thanks in advance!

Hi armani,
You're welcome, not a problem. I try to keep each paragraph to no more than 4 lines of text. They don't like when you present them with a big "wall of text" in each paragraph.
I never add a picture as it's too time consuming and I didn't notice a difference in pay. I do add 3-4 links in each article. So say, the word g00gle is refered to in the article, I will link that word wherever it's used. And then link my keyword to the most relevant info in a search. This helps for both upfront pay and ppv's from the search engines.
I have my writers use the keyword/phrase in title (usually the first words in title) in the first sentence and at least 1-2 times per paragraph.
I always add a subtitle
2 referances at end of article
*also catchy titles dont work, make the title highlight your keywords and what the article about. Use the subtitle for catchiness to grab attention (I also use keyword here)
And I use the descriptive overview to draw attention and pose controversy when possible.
With regards to Accts. I use the method of linking to seperate PP emails. I know some have been caught for this as your name is linked to all if AC looks into your accts. BUT from everyone I've talked to both here and AC as long as you write quality content you can fly under the radar on this. By giving AC just what theyre wanting and not blasting them with cr*p you are golden
If you have an contradicting info on this please feel free to share.
As far as how many per day, I'm keeping it right around 10 per acct. sometimes 9, sometimes 11 etc.
Again, as long as you're sending them good content they are all for it. I think it's the people that are blasting 10 or more cra*py articles per day/acct that are running into problems.
With that said, if I get banned I'll just use all throw away accts in the future and not have a w9 verified acct.
Hope this helps
One thing I wanted to share: A little BH method I use to make a little extra $$ when getting samples from bidders at GAF..
No bidders will want to complete a full 4-500 word sample just for a "chance" of getting hired. So what I do is split multiple 500 word articles into two parts, have all the bidders rewrite the different portions and then piece back together the more well written samples. Copyscape them and submit them to AC. That way you kill a few birds with one stone. You know whether you have a good writer to hire and you get to utilize the samples for something.
Hope that helps

Very interesting comments re: links w/in articles. Never knew you could do that. Have you put any Amazon links, etc. in product review articles that were submitted for performance pay only?
Those of you looking for writing samples should check out the featured sources ... like this one
HTML Code:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/148/kassidy_emmerson.html
She has over 1000 articles published on AC that have over 7 million page views. Lots of how-to, tips, product review articles.

Ya I have added Amazon links and they do help with the ppv's.
Kassidy is totally cool the source that you mentioned, she's given me a sh*tload of advice. Just hope fellow BH'ers don't blast her with questions lol.

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
You can add your amazon aff link to the article to earn extra, or is that not allowed?
Very good advice on the process flow. Thanks for sharing. I might try this one day to test the water.

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
I don't think you can add an affiliate link, but I'm not sure. I'd think it wouldn't be allowed, especially with how anal AC is. When I said I link to Amazon I meant to draw more backlinks and viewers to my articles for ppv's. Plus I think AC may pay a little more Upfront with proper linking done.

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
what is PPV, it assume it is not pay per view, but performance whatever?
Or it is indeed pay per view, they pay you for each viewer?

OK, so if your article is on the Kindle 2, you link to the product's page every where "Kindle 2" appears in your article. Have you tried linking to Google product search results pages?

From reading this old post on Josh Spaulding's blog,
HTML Code:
http://ez-onlinemoney.com/blog/affiliate-marketing/a-sneaky-money-maker-for-bum-marketers/
AC was either allowing it or they fell asleep at the wheel while sources published articles with aff. links. But it's really not allowed. I asked because I thought redtide1969 had found a work around
I found this link in the AC forum. It's the Associated Content Tool Box - it should help all of us make a few more $$$ on AC:

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
@ neobyte,
Ya, they pay backdoor payments of $1.5 for 1000 views. Not much, but once you have 3-4 hundred or 3-4 thousand articles and promote them at SB and SN sites etc.
it adds up
@ XRay
I do it both ways, I prefer not to put more than 6 links in an article (I heard Googl will consider it spam and bump it down the SE rankings with too many) so I'll do 3 to direct products or services and then 3 links from top pages at Googl. I always try to use the most reputable sites with high traffic.
Thanks for the shares XRay, That was definitely better days for this method. It used to be so much easier to make coin from what I've seen.
And thanks for the tool box, this page is new to me so this is much appreciated.
regards

I posted a couple of free ways on your thread keshav.
@ XRay.. One important trick I forgot to add to what I was saying about linking: linking articles to other articles.
Once you've got a decent sized library of articles published you can interlink all the articles with similar subject matter.
What this does is basically doubles your views right there. When people are reading through your article they're getting sent to the other articles. It basically starts to snowball so your ppv's really start taking off. Of course they have to be interested in what they're reading in the original article in order to want to click through to the next. Buy once you get this all set up it makes a big difference in views
Also I ping my articles
And this is before we've used multiple Soc. bkmrkng and networking accts to really blast them out there.
Hope this helps man, its a great way to make a residual income for years to come (or as long as AC is around lol)
Btw, I'm using Onlywlre to speed things up, does anyone know of a better free alternative to it? With more sites to post to?

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Actually firefly, I will go ahead and post it here so others can hopefully benfit from it.
Hope this helps!
Here is more information regarding what I need from your rewrites and when and how I pay my writers. Please follow ALL guidelines set forth.
I have no set deadline, as long as you can get me the 10 rewrites within a 24 hour period after sending them to you that's fine. I am flexible with regards to deadline as quality is much more important to me than deadline. But with that said, I can't wait 3 days for each 10 article batch either, as I have deadlines to meet as well
I will send you each batch of 10 articles at the completion of any prior batch. If there are too many grammar, punctuation or spelling errors or do not have the keyword phrase used as per requirements and also if any of them don't pass Copyscape then I will have to send them back to you for reworking before sending off the next batch.
I will pay you through Paypal (I usually pay at the completion of each 50 article project) But when I bring on a new writer I pay them $10 at the acceptance and completion of the first batch in order to show them that I pay on time. Then I will pay you the remaining $40 at project completion.
*important*
Basically what I need is to be able to take your rewrites and send them to my client without having to spend time editing (fixing punctuation, grammar, formatting etc) so please proofread each article before considering them done and sending them back to me for review, or I will have to send them back to you for reworking. I will fix a few basic spelling issues etc, but if the rewrites need consistant editing when I reveiew them I must return them for editing.
I have attached the first 2 articles for rewriting and after I review them will then send you the remaining 8 articles to complete the first 10 article batch. As I said I will then pay you for the first 10 articles to show that I pay in a timely fashion, then will pay the remaining $40 at project completion. If you consistantly send me quality error free rewrites that are all formatted and ready to submit to my clients I will be able to give you a raise in pay after we complete the first 50 article project.
A quick recap:
-must pass Copyscape (no more than 15% duplicate content and it will pass) *DupeFreePRO is an easy to use free program that you can use to check duplicate content percentages.(FInd in Google search)
-Need Keyword used in first sentence and 1-2 times per paragraph for a total of 2-3% keyword density.
-If original article has technical data in it, please keep it in the rewrite and work your duplicate percentages around it. (In other words, please don't omit the technical verbage to make it pass Copyscape)
-Feel free to add your own personality to the rewrites where applicable.
-Please don't change the original articles format. (If it's "10 tips for..." with each tip broken down into seperate paragraphs, please leave it with this format)
Feel free to ask any other questions you may have
Thanks much,
redtide
I have a few others but this one covers most of it firefly.
Good luck!

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Here's another tip I thought I'd share in case any of you didn't know.
When you submit a news related article by choosing "news items" in the AC submission template, they pay you a flat $4 for the article if it's accepted. PLus it gets published within 24 hours after submitting compared to 4-10 days for a regular submission.
All of mine have been accepted and here are a few of the things I do for these.
1) Make sure its current or breaking news
2) Find the content online and rewrite it, including title, subtitle etc
3) Add a "timeline" to the beginning of each article ie:
WASHINGTON, DC. May 3, 2009 - In Washington today, a news report has been released that states...blah blah blah
4) Link to relevant info in the article
5) Add two resources at the end
Doing these works out great because instead of wondering if you'll only get 2-3 dollars for a general article, you get an automatic $4 and it's reviewed within 24 hours of submission
Hope this helps

I'm not sure, redtide1969 - like I said before, it's been awhile since I used it. From what I remember, socialmarker takes the bookmark you created to ea. site you checked off & posts them. I hope that helps.

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Thanks for your very informative thread. In one of my former careers I was a writer. I have often felt like $2-$4 per article is a slap in the face (especially when a good magazine pays $1/word or more), which is why I've avoided AC thus far. $2-4 for rewrites per the method you've outlined though, not bad once things add up.

That's the one piece of info I'm not wanting to give out. I will say that I get them online and don't mess around with going to libraries and scanning old books or some of the other methods ie: foriegn sites then throwing them through Googl translator etc.
I found those methods time consuming and pretty innefective.
Just look online, there's plenty of content out there

Thanks XRay, as soon as I have time I'm gonna give them a try. It's just so freakin time consuming setting up all the registrations lol.
Thanks again for the share!

No problem werrich,
I totally agree, I personally wouldn't write these myself for that amount. But outsourcing rewriters and then scaling up can be pretty effective. Don't get me wrong it's still alot of work ie: scraping online originals for the rewriters, editing, checking that they pass copyscape, checking keyword density, adding sources, dealing with the pain in the a** AC site glitches during submission of the articles etc. But it's still worth it
Good luck if you decide to dive into it
OK, I thought I'd add another tip I use. I guess we'll call this the tip of the day...
I already talked about "calls for content" and how much more you can make by writing them for AC's partner sites ($10-$20 per 400 word article) Today they have 2 available (1 on the housing market, 1 on Obama's speech about sending jobs overseas) Anyway, as soon as I saw them this morning I contacted my 4 writers. I had them stop working on their daily rewrites and gave them each of the above mentioned Calls for Content to do this morning. I offered to pay them $3 per article (I'm paying them more than the normal $1 as these need to be originals)
I claimed both Calls for Content on each of my 4 accounts (total of 8 articles split between 4 writers) Each C4C is offering $10 per article, so with each writer doing 2 articles I will make $80 minus $24 paid to my writers.
That's $54 for doing nothing, nada, zip.
Hope this helps!

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
and one more question....how long does it take for AC to pay you after you submit an article? I have heard it takes a week to review the article and then they offer you a price is that typically how it goes? Thanks!

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
That's what I was gonna say lol. But it's cool Matt. $1 per 500-600 words at GAF (Get-afreelancer.c0m)
It takes em anywhere from 3-10 days BUT that doesn't really matter once you've been submitting 30-40 articles per day everyday. It doesn't matter when you've submitted them, you are seeing articles accepted and money in your PP acct every day.
If you miss a day of submitting you miss a day of getting paid 3-10 days down the road.
Hope this helps

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Thanks for the great info, I have just started with AC, I wanted to ask you about GAF, I have 2 projects going on now, and 1 still active, on all projects I didn't gets any bids for less than $1.75 per article,
the one I got for $1.00 per article, the provider then said he bid the wrong amount and then wanted more money for each article, we settled on 23 articles for $30, instead of 30 for $30,
my open project the bids have been $2-$3 per article, do you have any pointers on how to get lower bids, or are they just getting smarter over there on GAC.
I also have a question about multiple accounts, I assume you manage each account with a serparate ip,
but what about paypal, for each paypal did you use a business account with a different banking acct, business name,(in ny it costs $130 to register each DBA, so this is alot of outlay)and po box($35 per month) and trac phone, that is the only way I know how to get different paypal accounts, thanks so much for your time, cheers

Re: Made $30 on two articles today
Hi Foxy,
WIth Gaf are you putting in your ads that your budget only allows you to pay $1 per rewrite? Also are you saying that you need someone long term to work on 50-100 articles and then more after that?
On my ads I tell them to bid $50 for 50 articles and I end up getting flooded with bidders. (between 15-20 per ad) Many will bid below $50 to try to win the bid (I get them as low as $30)
I will paste a copy of one of my older ads below in case that may help.
On the accts issue I do it a simpler way but it's riskier. My isp changes my ip addy each time I reboot the modem, so when I login to a different AC acct it's with a unique ip. I also delete cookies before logging in. I only use one PP acct, using the AC accts linked to seperate PP emails method. (you can add up to 8 emails to your PP acct) It's riskier do to the fact that if AC investigates my accts they will see all emails linked to one name, but I'm not sweating it. From people I've talked to here and at AC. as long as you consistenly send quality content you can fly below the radar. If I do get banned I will just stop having a w9 verified acct. I don't bother using a proxy etc.
Hope this helps
Here's a copy of one of my GAF ads
I am looking for writers to write/rewrite articles on a regular basis. I will need a minimum of 10 articles submitted for my approval PER DAY in a zip file of.txt (notepad) format, with a minimum of 50 articles submitted per week.
I pay via Paypal within 24 hours of completion of each 50 article project, All articles must be written by a NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKING writer. Please don't bid if you aren't able to meet these requirements.
I pay $1.00 to start per 500-600 word article and will increase it with proven reliability and writing skills. I am looking for 2-3 GOOD writers who are looking for long term work.
I will supply you with all the articles to be rewritten as well as keywords. The keywords I provide you need to be used in a normal and conversational way throughout the articles. The keyword needs to be in the article title, first sentence and used another 10-12 times throughout each article.
The articles must be at least 85% unique, they will be reviewed through Copyscape and Dupecop for plagiarism. If an article you submit to me does not pass Copyscape or has spelling and punctuation mistakes, you will not be paid for that article until it is corrected and resubmitted to me for approval.
The articles need to be informative to the reader with 100% correct grammar and punctuation. They ABSOLUTELY MUST read like they are written by a Native English speaker...this is very important.
You agree that upon sending me the rewrites all rights to the rewritten articles transfer to me. This means you will not sell, reproduce or re-use these articles in any manner.
Please be able to communicate 1-2 times per day via email,
Bids will only be considered with a sample article on a topic that I choose.
When bidding please bid on the first project of 50 articles at $1.00 per rewrite.
If you are not chosen re-apply, I am always looking for more quality writers. I am very fair to my writers, but expect QUALITY work from them as well.
Please type this in your PMB to me.. "quality writer" so I know you read and understand the requirements.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you
